Talaki34ParticipantI cannot take Comcast any longer. I have phone, internet and TV through them. Would like to switch.
I can remove the TV if I can view through the internet. I work from home and need internet service that is fast.
Live in Arbor Heights.

suzanneParticipantCenturylink customer service is horrible! We’ve had them for years without any problems until we upgraded our internet service. They over billed us and I spent well over 8 hours on the phone with them over the course of a couple weeks trying to get it straightened out. It was by far the most frustrating interaction with a company I have ever had. I finally contacted the Better Business Bureau and I think it’s finally straightened out, but we won’t know for sure until we get the next bill.
Unfortunately our choices here are abysmal since I’ve never heard any good things about Comcast either. Flip a coin.

anonymeParticipantAgree with Suzanne. CenturyLink probably has the worst customer service on the planet, it’s almost impossible to figure out what any plan will actually cost you or for how long, and lately (I live in AH also) the connection has been failing, sometimes disconnecting me altogether. Until now, at least the service seemed to work fairly well. Just plan on bizarre billing schemes, and not being able to ever resolve a single issue without spending days on the phone.

CMPParticipantI had Comcast for years and couldn’t stand it. I moved to a new apartment two years ago near the Junction and decided to try Century Link out. I only have internet service but am quite happy. I don’t think I’ve ever had to reset the router/modem, unlike Comcast, where that was a weekly occurrence it seemed. No outages, speeds are fine at 12MB, although I should inquire about an upgrade. Overall, it meets my expectations except for the price. I thought I had locked in to a three year contract at a great rate, maybe around $25, but then I noticed last year that my bill went up to $52. I’m too lazy to call them to argue b/c it’s still cheaper than Comcast was. I haven’t dealt much with their customer service but their technician that set up my service was great.

dhgParticipantCMP: I’m paying maybe $70 for speeds 10x faster than your dsl through Comcast. Is it worth while switching to Clink????? I know of one office downtown that switched to them, then switched back a month later because service was so bad. I know another business in the junction that moved away from clink because customer service was so bad, the woman in charge of straightening out the mess was literally in tears trying to deal with getting a response from Clink.
Comcast support is not good but Clink is much much worse.

Ms. SparklesParticipantWe have comcast but I experience the horror that is Century Link first hand when I was trying to find out if their subcontractor (Splighty Fiber Optics) had a permit to block the sidewalk.
.
They just kept transferring me and each new person would ask for my account # – I kept explaining I wasn’t a customer, I was calling to speak to the project manager in charge of the utility work being done in West Seattle. I spent 3 hours getting the run around before I was finally transferred to a voice mail of the alleged project manager – that person never called me back.
.
Their service is so bad it would almost be funny if it weren’t so maddening.

anonymeParticipantIt’s gotten to the point that I need drugs, alcohol, or both if I have to call CenturyLink for any reason. A very simple problem can result in seven hours on the phone. I AM NOT KIDDING.
I once tried to call in a commendation for a CLink service technician who’d come to my house. After 45 minutes on the phone, I realized the illiterate jerk had no idea what the word “commendation” meant. I assured him he would never have reason to know.

Ms. SparklesParticipant^^^ That’s funny, the “I assured him he would never have reason to know” – not the part about having to be well medicated to make the call.

CMPParticipantClearly both options are not ideal but I’ve had no reason to call Century Link in two years b/c I haven’t had any problems. Guess I’ve been lucky or am not very picky. I also think I’ve been use fiber this whole time, not DSL. I dunno. Century Link is the lesser of two evils for me, sorry to hear their customer service is bad.

AJPParticipantSeems like it’s 6 of one and half a dozen of the other. We had Comcast, it would sputter and spit and slow down at certain times of day. We switched to Clink because we wanted a real land line in case of emergencies, and Comcast only does VOIP. So far, we’ve sputters and spits and slowdowns. I had issues accessing my online account and had a few hoops to jump through to get there, but that’s it so far.

Michael WaldoParticipantI had Century link internet for 12 years. I recently switched to Comcast after to many problems and horrible customer service. You say you live in Arbor Heights. Keep in mind, one reason we switched to Comcast is because Century Link told me they had not upgraded Arbor heights in over 10 years and High Speed broadband was years away.I was paying for 1.5 but never had more then 1.3. I now have !0 with Comcast. I have had it for over a month and I am happy, so far.
Before you think about Century link, find out what speed they can give you and if you are in an upgraded area.

Talaki34ParticipantThank you for all the comments.
I decided to stay with Comcast for another year without a contract.
