manolitaParticipantThe West Seattle YMCA! Classes are on Mondays and Fridays I believe. Reema is awesome and the music is just perfect!

IrukandjiParticipantJennifer Cepeda and Nelson E. at Allstar West Seattle are both fantastic dancers and teachers. The only downside is that Allstar can’t seem to get the fans fixed, so it’s pretty hot in there.
I think Jennifer is starting up an independent class, too, under the business name SparkFit and she’ll be teaching Friday classes at Youngstown Cultural Arts Center.

IrukandjiParticipantOh, and if you can cope with Allstar, it’s possible to get an all-clubs membership of 15 months for the price of 12 that equals out to about $23 a month. With six classes available per week, you’d be well within your range.

jojofrenchfryParticipantThe West Seattle YMCA has some great Zumba classes! Reema has a great following. The drop in daily fee is only $10 (includes gym and pool use as well). Make sure you bring legal photo ID.

susangParticipantThe best kept zumba secret is the insanely cheap classes through the community centers. I don’t know what the current schedule is, but look for classes taught by Katie. She is terrific – super high energy, fun, funny, encouraging, and knows her stuff. Last fall the classes were only $6 for an hour class and zero joining fees, etc. Hiawatha CC had a Saturday morning class that was great.

ghar72ParticipantHighland Park Improvement Club has a Sunday class. Never taken it, so don’t know about quality. Web says it’s $10 drop-in.

zumbacrushMemberHi!
Thank you Irukandji for mentioning me!
Hope to see you in classes!
(I just noticed that advertisements are not to be posted here, so I removed my personal references to my classes.)

WSBKeymasterIf you read the rules – business owners ARE allowed to post responses to requests for recommendations, if someone is bonafidely asking for recommendations and they happen to be in that line of business. We monitor (as do our much-appreciated Forums members) to be sure no one tries to game that part of the system. It’s the standalone “hi, I want to tell you all about my business” posts that are against the rules. Also, do NOT reopen old threads (a week or more old) just so you can post something about your business – those will be deleted and the thread permanently closed; just respond to currently active threads with questions. Thank you!

IrukandjiParticipantOK. Good to see Jennifer Cepeda has her profile linked to her business/studio. She’s fantastic.

DancingArtistMemberI teach Zumba® and Curves® Circuit with Zumba® in West Seattle! I teach Zumba® at Southwest Community Center (starts 9/19/11) Mondays at 6:30pm. There are Zumba® classes at most of the community centers this fall: Delridge, Hiawatha, Southwest and High Point. Each instructor has their own style so check out a couple of us to see which style you like or take from a couple of instructors for a variety. Try it for $2 drop-in. If you register, it breaks down to $6-8/class.
Curves® Circuit with Zumba® classes are just $3/class with membership (I teach at the West Seattle & Westwood locations).
I also teach at My World Dance & Fitness (Rainier & Dearborne). Tuesdays @ 6:30pm. $12 drop-in. Class cards (11 classes) break down to $10/class & you can use them for ANY of the studio dance/fitness class.
Hope this helps!

DBurnsParticipantI took the Sunday morning Zumba class at Highland Park Improvement Club and LOVED it! The pace was perfect for the neighborhood crowd. The teacher is adorable and everyone had a great work out. HPIC is really turning into a great fitness space! They also have Yoga on Thursday nights as well as Boot Camps some mornings, and there may be more offerings ahead! Great for the low-key approach; no gym fees, no judgement ;) just healthy neighborhood/community fun.

ZDMemberI would love to try that class at Highland Park Improvement Club. Looks like the instructor is Damaris Valdez and it’s $10?
September 16, 2011 at 6:09 am #733646
DBurnsParticipantZD – Yes – a sign in sheet and a small basket for your cash…great beginners class and Damaris is awesome! (I met her the first time last Sunday and by the end of class she felt like a friend! Loved her!)

EdiggityMemberYou gotta check out Jennifer Cepeda at Youngstown Cultural Center Friday mornings!
She’s, easy to follow, friendly, and can really move! Looks like she has some introductory pricing on her website, http://www.hellosparkfit.com
Her pricing is fairly competitive featuring drop in fees and a punch card system. I took from her last week and she made me feel very welcome!

JbradenMemberHello… I have been taking classes at Youngstown with Jennifer Cepeda now for about 6 months. She is FANTASTIC. I love her enthusiasm and the classes are a lot of fun. I sweat quite a bit and always know I am getting a great workout but it doesn’t seem like a burden– instead it is energetic and the people in the class are also very nice and helpful. I don’t always get all of the moves correct but I just keep moving anyway knowing that it keeps my heart rate up. :) Really love this class. Jennifer’s company is called SparkFit — and she has no idea I am even writing this :)
