JoBParticipantI was reading on the deck and hubby was napping when windows rattled and dogs barked… and an event worthy sound system erupted across the street..
I was nearly out of my seat to see what was the matter… when they turned it off…
I had just about nodded off with my book (which tells you what good stuff i am reading these days) when the windows shook and dogs jumped onto the swing to wake me up. They were at it again.
Barefoot, i crossed the street to ask the “kids” to turn it down a bit before i had to find a hotel to check into..
Imagine my surprise when the kids turned out to be the guys with the pink flamingo float… and the guys were testing the sound system.
If their float is any indication of the level of fun at that parade today… it is worth heading downtown to support our own piece of West Seattle Pride.
the parade starts at 3rd.. or so and Harrison and travels north to Denny way.. they expect to take about 2 1/2 hours starting now…
if i didn’t have sick dogs, i’d be there :)))
A big shout out to our West Seattle Gay community and prayers for the fight for equal domestic partnership rights…
You never know who your neighbors are… I got lucky.. i have very sweet (they turned the sound off) and interesting neighbors :)))
i can’t wait to get to know them better.

JiggersMemberI’m looking for a cute straight girl to date. Any out there still in Seattle or should I move cities?

charlabobParticipantGiven, your viewpoint, as expressed on the Repu* Infidelity thread, you should probably change decades: the 1950’s might work better for you.
edited to remove a completely insincere smiley…i reread your original

JoBParticipantjiggers..
since marriage or commitment don’t seem to sound all that appealing to you… i am sure there are cute straight women who would be perfectly glad to use you and abuse you and spit you out before breakfast…
i don’t personally know any.. but i am sure they are out there.
but what on earth does that have t do with a parade?

JiggersMemberI don’t have to be married to be happy, or do I? It takes a lot of money for marriage to be successful in today’s society. Love alone doesn’t pay the bills.

JanSParticipantit takes more than money…hard work, it is…been there, the work didn’t pay off – lol…
jiggers…you need to be happy in your own right, and not depend on another person for happiness. A partner is a complement to you, not a necessity :)

datamuseParticipantIt was really fun. My personal favorites were the Seattle Atheists, who brought their own Flying Spaghetti Monster to bless paradegoers with His Noodly Appendage.

CaitParticipantLOL datamuse – that’s hilarious.
From what I heard it sounded like a lot of fun, at least on Cap Hill.

JoBParticipanti am sorry i missed it…

JoBParticipantjiggers…
you are facing one of life’s realities.. the law of diminishing returns…
those women who want commitment expect some back from you..
and those who don’t in your age group are growing up… while those younger than you.. well they aren’t looking for someone older unless he has the kind of money or power or influence to make their fantasies happen…
or unless he just has that magic.
You are facing a rapidly diminishing supply of good time girls :(
I am not sure moving would help.
But no.. you don’t have to be married…

karenParticipantNot to get back on topic or anything but. . .
Yay! West Seattle Flamingo guy!!

DMParticipantBack to the Gay Pride Parade….
This straight girl played her Brazilian drum in the Pride Parade for the 15th time. It’s always a joy! The folks lining up to march in the parade were in a fun mood, the crowd watching was up for dancing if you gave them something good enough to dance to, and it was a pleasure to hang out by the Seattle Center fountain when the parade was over: grown-ups and kids in the fountain, having a great time frolicking to pump’n dance tunes. It was such a fun time. It always is!

DMParticipantWhat I neglected to say: The Pride Parade IS a political parade. I was marching though a huge crowd, primarily made up of people that don’t have the same automatic marital protections that I do simply because I’m straight. The Gay Community’s marital rights shouldn’t be left up to a vote of the populace, period. Today was fun, but I marched because it hurts my soul that my Gay family members and friends don’t have the same automatic marital protections that I do. Hello: Gay people exist. It’s not a choice. To those who disagree with me: Please wake up and ask yourself what you’re really afraid of. Thank you dear ones.

JiggersMemberDM you are right. They have their agendas as well. That’s why it was held in downtown Seattle instead upon Capitol Hill. More exposure. It sure created a lot of mess and traffic for people who don’t care about it, as well as the stupid Marathon.
June 29, 2009 at 11:08 pm #670852
flowerpetalMemberIt did create mess and it did create traffic… even for people who do care about the parade and the marathon and the Torchlight Parade; and HiYu; and the Christmas Parade; and the workers marches before Memorial Day weekend; and as you might see I could go on. But I don’t whine about it because many of those events I do care about; and some I care less about. But I live in a metropolitan area and I choose to have a happy heart not a bitter one.
June 30, 2009 at 2:18 am #670853
datamuseParticipantI understand, Jiggers. I feel the same way every time there’s a game.
