I’ve got a nice (expensive hardwood) futon that I’m done with. I’d like to donate it to a worthy organization, but Northwest Center doesn’t do large furniture donations. Any other local options that would offer a pickup?

Try a West Seattle “Buy Nothing” Facebook group. I bet it’ll disappear in a day.

Regarding organizations … I would suggest contacting West Seattle Helpline. They probably don’t accept such things themselves but would certainly be plugged into nonprofits in need

Or … looks like Salvation Army picks up. I just ran through the first couple steps to schedule a futon pickup in West Seattle and while the lead time is a week-plus, it looks like they do it. In our area, for example, they have a shelter for domestic violence victims.

    Thanks for wanting to give.

Sharehouse….they use their donations to help set up homes for transitioning homeless/very low income people. It is run by the YWCA. They like donations of quality stuff, since it is used to set up households. Here’s the link, with a description..and link for donating.
