DianeParticipanttheir website is having “technical difficulties”; may not be able to access before deadline

EmmyJaneParticipantI’m going to get in trouble for this one, but I find it hypcritical that Oprah made such a big fuss earlier in the year about the horrible treatment of dogs in puppy mills yet she’d endorse a deal and bring business to a food chain that is notorious for buying chicken from suppliers with cruel practices…
just sayin…

DianeParticipantgood point EmmyJane; I didn’t think of that

GenHillOneParticipantFWIW, coupon is still available today –
“Coupon download available from 9 a.m. CDT on May 5, 2009, to 11:59 p.m. CDT on May 6, 2009.”
Political correctness of chicken farms aside, I might try to print a bunch off and pass them along to the foodbank…hey, they offered!
I know they’re trying to promote their new “healthier” grilled chicken, but from a marketing standpoint, seems silly to offer a whole meal. They’ve effectively cut out any side sales they might have had with an offer of the two free pieces alone.

YardvarkMemberI’d imagine the side sale has something to do with you downloading coupon “software” and providing KFC with all your info. Make sure to read the privacy policy.
That said, thanks to GenHillOne for thinking of the food bank. Great idea!

SueParticipantI keep getting the message that the link appears to be broken.

GenHillOneParticipanthmmm…don’t know, Sue, I just printed my 4 – 4 per household is the rule, so I’ll play fair even if I am not going to use them myself :)
If everyone sends 4 dinners to the foodbank though, it could add up!
I actually already have the coupon printer software installed from other coupons I get, so didn’t have to do anything special here. I guess I’m saying that if it worries you, I think the software is more generic, rather than a KFC thing. Though admittedly, since I had it, I didn’t see what they’re asking you when downloading.

WSratsinacageMemberI think it’s great that Oprah is “sharing the wealth” and that people who need it will be able to get free food.
I’d hate to be working at KFC .. They are going to be busier than a honey bucket at a chili cook off! :) Flashbacks to getting slammed in my old fast food working days.

AnonymousInactivethanks for heads up & your good intentions, but, predictably, the web site fails — partly because of the complicated desires of the corporate world requiring any user to download & install private info stealing software that will open your computer up to viruses.
caveat emptor if you downloaded their software to print off the coupon

SueParticipantAfter reloading a couple of dozen times (okay, I’m bored at work), it finally worked.

DianeParticipantI’ve tried multiple times; unable to download; its starts with Acrobat; then I get error message; oh well; thanks for thinking of food bank

RainyDay1235MemberI’m with you EmmyJane. I think I’ll pass and continue to take their advice and “Unthink KFC”.
May 7, 2009 at 4:37 pm #666122
YardvarkMemberHey, hey. Don’t be so hard on KFC. Sure, they dig on animal cruelty, but Free chicken? That’s good stuff.
Just so folks know, the coupon software most likely records the websites you visit and reports these back to a server that then generates coupons specific to your interests. Visit a lot of cat-lover websites? You’ll get cat food coupons. If you’re okay with that, and with screwed up factory chicken farming, more power to you.
Enjoy the feast!
As for me, I’ll definitely continue to Unthink KFC.

sldMemberWe went to the KFC in White Center tonight and were told they are not accepting the coupon anymore.
May 8, 2009 at 7:20 pm #666124
SueParticipantsld, apparently they are not accepting them but are giving rainchecks (which will also include a free pepsi) – info here: http://www.kfc.com/coupons/raincheck.asp
I have no intention of going to KFC to pick up a raincheck form, then mail it in, wait for my coupon, and then go back for my free meal. And I see no reason why, if they can give rainchecks for a free coupon, why they can’t just honor the original coupons?
I suppose it’s good business that they’re ultimately honoring the free meal deal by doing this, but bad business in that the whole thing turned into a mess, and now I’ll probably never go. Meanwhile, they could’ve had me in there for free grilled chicken, I could’ve liked it, and then started patronizing them again (which I don’t now). Their loss.

WSratsinacageMemberSounds like this thing turned into a CF, K?
