The Federal Government is abusing us.

    1. AP reporters being wire tapped by DOJ. I told you about the attacks on the Right Wing Media. Now it is happening to other media. Holder is out of control. http://apnews.myway.com/article/20130513/DA68MMQ82.html

    2. IRS Purposely targeting Conservative groups only. This is outrageous. Since this administration took over they have been targeting right wingers. Napolitano immediately spoke out about right wing extremism. After the Republicans shellacked the Dems in 2010 midterms, the IRS went after Patriot/Tea Party groups or conservative Jewish Groups. They went beyond the scope of demanding information. They are not allowed to ask for Donor lists. This is nothing new. Clinton did it too. http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/obama-denounces-reported-irs-targeting-of-conservative-groups/2013/05/13/a0185644-bbdf-11e2-97d4-a479289a31f9_print.html

The IRS admitted this last Friday after denying it for a couple of years.

This is the same bureau that will be keeping track of our health records!!!!

    3. Benghazi – More keeps trickling out. This is going to get really ugly.

I believe in limiting government. They are abusing their power.

It is HOT here in Arizona. Thought I should mention I am writing this from here. Love Jan Brewer.

Jan Brewer is just your type and you are welcome to her.

The IRS is an independent organization, Obama does not direct their scrutiny but Republicans have always felt that there is no problem with scrutiny if you’ve nothing to hide.

The Patriot Act is coming home to roost. It is a Republican-passed act during the time of Bush that curbed our rights to privacy. Republicans didn’t object to it because they don’t like the way “right to privacy” was being construed and if you don’t have anything to hide….

Job, in 2006, do you know why the Democrats did so well in those midterms? Because Republicans and Conservatives did not support the spending by the right wingers in office. Unfortunately, the people who took their place, Pelosi and crew, spent even more. Hence the absolute ass kicking of Dems in the 2010 midterms.

Now the left didn’t like that at all. Funny that one day after the Head of the Union for the IRS employees visited the White House the umm, scrutiny, no violation of conservative groups by the IRS started.

JoB, I believe in limiting the power of the Federal government PERIOD.

DHG, I didn’t want the Patriot Act, nor the organizing of the Dept. of Homeland Security. I knew the Feds would over react just like they always do.

I certainly do NOT want the IRS in charge of Healthcare. They have shown they cannot be trusted.

I see patronage all throughout DC and the abuse that goes with it. Fannie, Freddie, DOJ.

Eric Holder, the President, State Department, and the IRS representatives are not taking any responsibility for anything.

If they didn;t know, then they must be incompetent. All of this Plausible Deniability is hogwash.

This was to be expected. It is the Chicago Way.

I don’t understand the outrage at targeting groups with TEA PARTY in their name. They are trying to get tax-exempt status by claiming NOT to back a political party, and THEIR NAME CONTAINS THE NAME OF A SELF-PROCLAIMED POLITICAL PARTY! Not to mention the word “party”! WTH?? The IRS would have been egregiously remiss had these groups not been called out explicitly.

    .

Benghazi – non-issue created by Fox News to get the empty heads frothing. That part’s my partisan, uncharitably opinion that probably should be kept to myself, but too late!

So Rich, did you feel you needed to wake up this thread, after its week plus little nap, because Obama appears to be handling the Oklahoma tornado disaster quite adeptly so far?

and I keep hearing that you want to limit the power of government, period. Limit what? The ability to take care of roads, airways, and everything in between, so you can pay less taxes? The ability to have a police force? A fire department? How about…limit the power of the military….would you be for that? Less money to the Dept. of Defense…less waste…audits. Tell us what EXACTLY you want to limit…not some generalization, quote some right wing thing. Tell in your own words what exactly you want to limit, and how, then you would deal with the fall out? You have a house, and there are regulations if you want to build on, etc.etc. Is that regulation OK? Are you saying you want to pick and choose what you want regulated or not?You confuse me, Rich, because you complain, complain, but you don’t offer concrete plausible alternatives/solutions…

yes, the May Gray is in my head…

While my political leanings seem to be the polar opposite of HMC Rich, he is partially correct about the IRS and Obamacare; the IRS isn’t going to “administer” the health care, but is in charge of giving the tax credit for, or assessing the penalties related to, purchasing Health Insurance to comply with the new ACA.

The question is, how do we expect the IRS to handle this new responsibility relating to a brand new law without additional funding for training and staff dedicated to this task? I believe part of the IRS / Tea Party debacle was due to lack of staff and training. Insted of making everyone who applied for 501(c)(3) status wait longer due to increased applications (Because of Citizen’s United) they tried to find a way to streamline the process and failed.

It was an absolute failure, but I think is speaks to systemic problems, maybe even inept executives, but not political partisanship.

Nothing new about the IRS handling a tax credit. There’s no other way to do it as far as I know. They do it for other things, too. But the Rw talking point is that the IRS is going to run the program, which is not true.

    Ms Sparkles..

i don’t know that it is the debacle everyone is pointing it out to be.

    The IRS investigates fraud.

If a wait person at one restaurant is found to have cheated on their taxes.. all of the sudden everyone else at that restaurant is getting audited too.

it’s the same way with other professions and businesses.

with the sudden wave of non-profits pushing the legal limits taking advantage of citizen’s united, it’s no surprise that they are being audited…

someone likely found a reliable way to increase their audit results….

Denial on so many fronts. How can you not see how the Federal Government is out of control?

Lies promoted by the top people regarding Benghazi.

The IRS going well beyond its mission in fact finding. How come no liberal groups were targeted?

Eric Holder, Denying involvement with the Press Cover-up but signed off on the warrants and searched for pro left judge. The narrative of the White House was to blackball the conservative media. They stepped on 1st Amendment rights.

Whether or not you like the Citizens United decision, it is the law, just like the Affordable Care Act. At least now corporations can donate to the right and left like the Unions do.

But you didn’t think about that, did you.

    Holder needs to resign.

Lerner and the IRS people involved need to resign.

President Obama and Hillary Clinton need to tell us what they were doing on the night of the Benghazi murders. They need to tell the truth. But they won’t because they are dirty.

I have a feeling the HOUSE OF CARDS will be falling in a year or two.

I feel like is a waste of time to refute all your fox news talking points, so I’ll just do one. (Too bad redblack doesn’t seem to be around much. He was usually much more enthusiastic about such a banal chore.)

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2013/05/15/report-the-irs-also-targeted-at-least-three-liberal-groups/

And, amazingly enough, the only group that actually was denied an exemption was a “liberal” group. The Benghazi stuff is a complete load of cr*p designed to try and hurt Hillary’s chances for 2016.

“President Obama and Hillary Clinton need to tell us what they were doing on the night of the Benghazi murders.”

Lessee, do we call Sherlock Holmes or Perry Mason? How do intelligent people fall for this baloney?

    wake..

nope.. he’s looking for her to be on the phone directing terrorist traffic..

because that’s what the Secretary of State and the President of the United States do..

aid and abet terrorist attacks on Americans..

if only Cheney.. oops, I meant Bush.. oh wait, Romney

had been in office we would have bombed the crap out of those people for harboring terrorists and allowing them to attack our CIA offices..

i mean embassy.. i got carried away there for a minute.

    and established 3 military bases

and secured contracts for their oil…

    do they have oil?

    it doesn’t matter

That’s the patriotic thing to do

when we get caught with our pants down

of course, we could have increased funding for security at all of our overseas embassies..

and required the CIA to be a little more discrete

but why fund preventative measures when you get such political mileage out of failure?

Oh yeah! I still have it.

JoB high fives her keyboard ;->

Now Verizon and the NSA. It was bad under Bush, it is worse now under Obama. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/jun/06/nsa-phone-records-verizon-court-order

    Not exactly Fox News Dobro.

In fact the news media has been slow to the party on most of these scandals (or news items if you prefer).

    http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Journalism/2013/06/06/Mainstream-Media-Did-Not-break-Even-One-of-Four-Obama-Scandals

Imagine all of this happening under the Bush Tenure. You guys would be foaming at the mouth. Just like the Iraq war, you wouldn’t have stopped. I remember Abu Ghraib and waterboarding at Gitmo. Day after day you guys griped, but you sure are quiet regarding Benghazi. Oh that’s right. A Democrat is the President so it must be OK.

Dobro One liberal group was turned down, but for almost three years the IRS did not allow the groups with Patriot or Constitution or other such words to be given non-profit status. Dobro, the IRS went too far in asking what these groups read, donor lists, people of interest, and went way beyond the scope of what the agents could ask.

I would not want this to happen to any group.

Even if I didn’t like them. You are pulling pieces of thread from a scarf to prove a one sided point.

So why won’t Lois Lerner talk? I am appalled at the lack of responsibility coming from out leaders, elected, appointed, etc. Eric Holder needs to resign. It must go deep at the IRS because they ain’t talking anymore.

The Bureaucrats, Democrats, and many Republicans have shown they are not accountable. Wait until the Feds turn on you too!!

You know the thing is even the conservatives aren’t complain to loudly about the Verizon wire taps its what it is everyone wants to be safe from terrorist.. me its no issue only those who have ties to theses groups have worries or if your afraid someone might find out something thats anti government oh my like that will ever change

    http://seattletimes.com/html/businesstechnology/2021128277_apusnsaverizonphonerecords.html

….Even John McCain dislikes the waterbording so….its not like the state department hasn’t been wrong before about protecting ambassadors….AGs has there ever been one that hasn’t come underfire please….. its business as usual with the IRS…The question people should be asking is why do political movements get tax exceptions period right or left….then again I do like the comic fallout about it all…..
