JanSParticipantI urge everyone age 50 and over to please go get a colonoscopy. It’s an easy test, although the prep the day before isn’t the most pleasant thing. My sister passed away from anal cancer in Dec. 2005 at the age of 60. No one ever suggested a colonoscopy to her. And then it was too late. It’s a devastatingly painful disease, one that you can do something to prevent. So please…just do it.

JiggersMemberPoor Farrah.. The day she dies Michael still had to steal the spotlight from her.

GenHillOneParticipantJiggers, I was thinking about that too. I was home to hear about Farrah, but in the car to hear about MJ. I just got home and EVERYTHING is MJ on tv, I suppose because it is more shocking. Has anyone seen anything in reference to Farrah’s family, Ryan, etc.? Maybe they are relieved to have some space? There’s still the 20/20 special coming up.

carrieannMemberGHO: I was thinking the same thing about it being more the focus now because it came so unexpectedly, whereas Farrah’s health had been on a rapid decline. Her passing is certainly no less tragic, however, and my heart goes out to both of their families and close friends.

HMC RichParticipantIt is a sad day. Two huge icons at some point. Both were special although I wish Michael would not have had so many surgeries. He was a brilliant entertainer. No boy or man will ever forget the Farrah Fawcett hairdo and Charlie’s Angels.
Colonoscopy procedure is easy. They knock you out. As said before the prep is a pain at times but much better than pain from polyps or cancer. Go get one if you are in your 50’s or having blood when you shouldn’t come out.
Farewell 70’s and 80’s friends.

cjboffoliParticipantActually, a colonoscopy alone isn’t a sufficient screening for anal cancer if you have risk factors. Anal pap smears and high-resolution anoscopies (HPA) will produce more detailed examinations of the anal mucosa. But with that said, Anal cancer is extremely uncommon.

JiggersMemberUghhh..cj, did you have to bring it up in detail?
