West Seattle or not: Please remember that job seekers are human too! Just because you are in the driver’s seat now, a little feedback or at the least letting an applicant know the status of a job is just plain decent. I am watching my educated and experienced daughter go through job applicant hell. I have never seen the kind of behavior from employers that she is experiencing. Be kind, be just, be fair, be helpful. It will come back on you…someday…when jobs are plentiful and you need applicants.

I hear you clearly and I hope business owners will take note. Unfortunately this a sign of our times, and not a good one. Civility is becoming a lost trait. I am often inundated with job applicants when no positions are available. It takes but a moment to respond with “I appreciate your interest but we have no opportunities available at this time. Best wishes to you in your job search. We will keep your inquiry on file.” I hope your daughter does not get beaten down. Assure her she will find the right fit for her education and skills but it may take awhile and some creativity on her part. Hang in there…
