tanyar23ParticipantWestwood Village made it to the front page of CNN. I hope that the dog is safe, sounds like they were thinking of releasing him to the dog’s owner’s boyfriend.

hammerheadParticipantYES they returned this poor dog BACK to the “bleep bleep bleep” who did this to the dog in the first place.
This is where out laws for animal protection SUCKS.
The dog was skin and bones.

tanyar23ParticipantYou’ve got to be kidding me. Because, he made such great decisions in the first place???

anonymeParticipantI’m very concerned with the way our Animal Control Dept. is handling issues of animal endangerment and cruelty. I’ve reported several serious situations, and their response was blasé, if not hostile. One officer actually told me they’d think about charges only if the animal actually died. IMO, their interpretation of the existing laws leans heavily toward doing nothing, and needs to change. Think of how the case would be handled if a starving child were left in a car for 6 days! There should be no difference in penalties.

JoBParticipantthis sort of thing needs to be moved into criminal court and treated at least as seriously as a traffic ticket…

mehud7ParticipantI just submitted an online complaint to the Seattle Animal Shelter. It is wonderful that the shelter tried to educate the boyfriend of Zipper’s owner, but Zipper should have been returned directly to his owner or to a responsible family member or friend.

WSBKeymasterUnless someone has personal direct knowledge of this – SAS said a few days back that the claim “Zipper” had been returned to ANYONE was incorrect, that the dog was staying at the shelter. (I also am rather tired of seeing the reports assuming the dog was in the car the whole time, when the police reported that the CAR was there the whole time and the dog MIGHT have been … Anyway, I’m following up with them today to see if anything new has happened here.)
