TheHouseMemberI’ve got an old shed that I want to tear down and replace completely. Does anyone know the best place/person to assist in the design (architecture student, program, etc)?
I don’t think an architect would be up for such a small project and the plans would probably cost more than the shed is worth.

JanSParticipanthey, have you ever considered one of those pre-made sheds that are advertised for rent/ for sale around West Seattle? Now there’s a little house I could probably afford…just gotta find a lot. Hey, how about your back yard?

AnonymousInactiveHouse, I don’t know if this is anything you’re interested in, but this site has kits and/or plans for sale for every project under the sun including sheds.

JanSParticipantJT…thanks for that…the kits for the little cottages are so cute. Now, where do I put one? lol…

JoBParticipantTheHOuse…
you might contact the local high or community college..
some kids love to do that just for fun.. and they might know who.

MrJTMemberHouse, we built one a couple of years ago from http://shedplans.com/ They had detailed directions, inculding complete list or materials. It was about 15.00

cjboffoliParticipantI really like these:
They might break your budget. But even if you don’t go with them some of the designs might give you some good ideas.

JanSParticipantwow, Christopher. If I had some property, I can picture 2 of them…one to live in, one to use as a massage studio..love the big studio.

cjboffoliParticipantJanS: It sounds like you might need the space afforded by these:

mellaw6565MemberHouse – contact the Duwamish Apprenticeship Center on E. Marginal Way right by the 1st Ave Bridge. They are run by South Seattle Community College and it is the facility for training in all of the construction trades.
I know they run a program for the schools where they come out and show kids how to build a shed from the ground up. It may be that they also offer opportunities for apprentices to practice their skills by helping individuals as well. I can honestly say that I could put one up now after they came out to my school and put us to work building a coffee stand.
Hope this helps.

JanSParticipantChristopher, now all I have to do is find someone with some property…those are very cool. I’ve always wanted a little studio like that for massage, and to have a portable far infrared sauna. A girl can dream, huh….

AnonymousInactiveJanS, not a shed but since we’ve slightly veered off topic, this is the one I want.
July 14, 2008 at 5:42 am #631294
JanSParticipantOMG…those are so cute…I’ve seen others like that, but I love the ones with front porches. And House is getting suggestions in between our thread jacking :)
July 14, 2008 at 5:48 am #631295
ErikParticipantJust think of all the micro-permitting you could do to put a few of these on one lot.
July 14, 2008 at 6:02 am #631296
AnonymousInactiveNo kidding Erik. Jan, did you look at the gallery? Fully functional, kitchen, bathroom, everything. Everything but the wiring and plumbing is recycled too.
July 14, 2008 at 7:37 am #631297
JanSParticipantthat’s wonderful…perhaps an answer to housing shortages. Imagine a “High Point” full of affordable houses like that. I kinda like the Victorian ones :)
July 14, 2008 at 1:12 pm #631298
JoBParticipantThis is incredible…
i longed for the modern-shed on a deck:)
the only problem with those tiny houses that i see is no storage…
do you think that would encourage me to lead an uncluttered life or to just junk up my shed?
maybe i could just build it bigger and put storage walls all along the outside:)

JanSParticipantHouse…hope you really did find some information here…sorry for the thread jack, honestly.
JT…here’s a story..
