inactiveMemberActually, there is dancing here twice a month at the Alki Masonic Hall – Sunday evenings. Check the link below for details.
The Seattle Swing Dance Club is the oldest west coast swing style dance organization in the country. i think annual memberships are $40 which will get into that twice monthly dance for $5, a free lesson and 3 1/2 hours or so of dancing
dances that are very very non-grinding type styles.
The club focuses on West Coast Swing (youtube search
“west coast swing” for videos) but members do other styles –
night club, two-step, salsa and latin, waltzes…you name it,
somebody there will be dancing it if the dj plays the right
music.
But I highly recommend West Coast. It’ll rock your world if
you can learn it and this club happens to have a handful of
the best instructor/dancers in the country. It’s affordable,
athletic, creative and classy – all while being extremely social.
Everybody should try dancing. It’s a great pasttime that gets
you healthy and happy. I know. I do go overboard about it a
bit, but it is awesome good fun.
Here’s the link to the club’s site:

It’s generationally and historically rich and I appreciate that so much. It’s a great style of dance for creative people…check out the youtube videos under “west coast swing”…really so expressive! But even though most videos show younger adults, older adults are ever present and compete in Masters. :) It’s cool to dance.
Keeps people young :)
