What the best (or your favorite) West Seattle coffeeshop? If you are choosing to go out specifically for coffee/quiet, where do you go?

My vote goes to Bird on a Wire. Small, chill, strong coffee, Wi-Fi, good music, outdoor seating, refills, and a no-nonsense attitude.

*Please refrain from mentioning large, corporate coffee conglomerates!

I like Alki Bakery for coffee, reading, and people watching. I like Cafe Ladro’s comfy seating and coffee, but the past two times I’ve been there, there were college-age kids working, and the volume of their hour-long conversation about a party they’d both been to made my visit very unrelaxing. They were speaking so loud (probably to hear each other over the music they were playing), that I couldn’t read. So…yeah..Alki Cafe is my choice.

I was going to say Tully’s because they’re basically local and have free wi-fi….plus there’s a superhottie that works afternoons…meeeeeeeeeeow!

Nothing beats C&P for a relaxing cup of coffee – unless you happen to pick a time when it’s overrun with dogs and/or kids.

    C&P gets my vote.

I like Bubbles on Delridge. They have a couple of seating area and nice big windows that you can look out on the world. I like the staff they know your drink and have it going when you are coming through the door.

Pioneer coffee down on Alki gets my vote. Although, my family, who was in town last weekend, loved C&P which was near their rental house. now i need to go try C&P.

My absolute favorites are Cafe Ladro, Diva Espresso and Cafe Rozella.

I went to Hotwire for the first time this week and it was also very yummy coffee. I like the atmosphere at C&P but wasn’t too impressed with the latte I had there. Uptown has that delicious foam. Mmmm coffee.

UpTown – hopefully this doesn’t classify as a corporate coffee conglomerate. If it does then the French Bakery on California…due cappuccini piacere!

I love Java Bean – it’s my next door neighbor so it’s usually where I get my coffee. And bagels. ooooh those bagels. It’s so expensive but I can’t stop!

The coolest drink I’ve gotten in WS was from Hotwire around Halloween. It was maybe called the “Ghoul” or something, but had cayenne pepper and chocolate. Delicious.

We like MANY West Seattle coffee shops but we LOVE Hotwire because (a) Lora was our very first advertiser and still supports WSB by continuing to advertise (1 1/2 years now that we’ve been selling ads!), (b) good coffee of course (Mexican Mocha is my fave), (c) Lora is very involved with all sorts of amazing community events – the outdoor movies, the experimental winter indoor movies, Furry Faces Plant Sales, the West Seattle Art Walk … The outdoor terrace is a bonus in warm weather, too. Oh P.S. It’ll be a must-stop on West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day May 9th, too, since not only is the Hotwire courtyard now filled with sellers, but it’s also spilling over into the Ginomai lot across the alley to the east. I just discovered “Bird on a Wire” on my way to Tony’s for produce. Super cute, cozy and they had vegan treats. I thought I wasn’t going to get coffee as planned as I noticed “Coffee at the Heights” was not yet open for biz (which is closer to m – I was a fan of Carosello when it was around). BOAW made me a fabulous hazelnut latte!

Bubbles on Delridge is now Pearls.

Also, the really hot girl that worked there who brought in a ton of business in no longer there.

There are still hot girls who work there though. Said hot girls also happen to be nice people, so tip them well.

Pioneer Coffee on Alki is great. One of the owners is a West Seattleite and it’s also cool that they have wi-fi and beer/wine. ;)

TR, they also have mexican mocha at Pioneer. I haven’t tried it at Hotwire, but will need to try theirs to compare. I’ve only had lattes at Hotwire, but those were pretty good.

I’ve heard great things about C&P from non-WSB-forum folks, but I haven’t tried it myself…yet. I may need to try them with all these other great reviews of their place.

Aw Pioneer is great! I used to frequent the Cle Elum location in college and loved that they had tons of local papers and such good coffee (them and Ellensburg’s D&M which I still miss). The Cle Elum location has an entire back room filled with wine and local beer.

Their Mexican mochas are fantastic, and I think my favorite drink there is their “granita” type of blended coffee. They crush the ice up really fine and whatever they put in it is soooo tasty. I want one now!

We seconded our LOVE for Lora and Hotwire Online Coffeehouse. The coffee is delicious–shade grown, organic, hand roasted and fair trade.

Plus, Lora is a Leader in our West Seattle Community, giving endless hours to make our neighborhood a better place to live. She is a super duper supporter of Furry Faces Foundation. (super duper is a Lora phrase ;) In fact she is sponsoring our Mother’s Day Hanging Basket Sale this weekend at her place and let’s us sell our plants out of her courtyard all Spring/Summer long. Thanks Lora! Cheers, F3

Am I the only one who rates coffee shops by the attractiveness of their baristas? I feel naked now.

No question, for me it is Hotwire. Great coffee and great sense of community. Lora is an awesome business owner who is always deeply involved in good things in West Seattle. Chances are, if you did something fun in WS (Junction Fest, Movies on the Wall), Lora had a hand in making it happen. All this has made me crave an Americano. Off to Hotwire…

BTW – also like to give a shout out to Revolution Coffee on Admiral. Rock on!

So wonderful we live in a place with so many good choices!

Does anyone know if any of the West Seattle coffee sources offer double ristretto espresso?

C&P! I absolutely love it there. There is a strong sense of community (join the community table for a good chat) but also little nooks or tables to settle into to read or write. And the coffee – the best. They have wine and beer in the evenings, live music on weekends, and art showings all the time….what’s not to like? LOVE IT!
