This is the second time I have had vertigo the last time it lasted for 27 days. Now it is kind of ebb and flow comes and goes sometimes mild sometimes so bad I need to lay down and stay in the dark.

I have a friend that also has been sticken with vertigo recently just wanting to know if anyone else is experiencing this.

    Thank you.

google “ear crystals” and look for the links to the Epley Maneuver. We actually have tiny crystals that get loose and can cause vertigo. There are a number of naturopathic doctors in West Seattle that can help you with this.Probably some Chiropractors do this as well.

I’m not sure, but if you went to another Doctor,as in MD, they would probably just prescribe pharmaceuticals and more appointment to follow up. I personally would try the Epley Maneuver first. I have never had vertigo, so I can’t speak of the maneuver myself but I can tell you many people have shared with me how amazing it works.

Vanessa is spot on as the primary cause of sudden, unexplained vertigo (although there are many causes). They are “Otolithes”, ear stones for translation and for some crazy reason they can just dislodge at random and then disturb the cilia in the ear upsetting your equilibrium. I’ve seen You Tube videos of the maneuver but thankfully have never had to use it myself and yes, have heard primarily ND’s perform it in office settings.

I had a severe case of vertigo; came on suddenly. Bonine helped as well as the Epley maneuver. Good luck….it’s no fun.

Thanks all last time I had it (for 27 days straight) I first went to the doc and on meds which did nothing then had a PT do the Epley maneuver on me it was weird and took several trys and the doc putting me on valium of all things and that finally kicked it.

I am going to acupuncture tonight hopefully that will help maybe I will take the firections on the Epley and have Sonja see if she can do it.

Why I wonder have I had this twice in one year when most never get vertigo?

    Thank you again.

Is it just vertigo or are you getting some headaches as well? Not trying to alarm you but someone I know very well suddenly had vertigo to the point where it made her ill. She resisted getting an MRI and hoped it could be cured with medicine. It ended up being a brain tumor pushing against her cerebellum. The tumor was removed and now everything is fine. If the problem persists or recurs I’d suggest an MRI just to be safe. I’m not a doctor, I just play one on the blog. . . .

    Hi,

I too have had several episodes of vertigo with onset from a car accident many years ago.

I would suggest Dr. Palaskis from the ENT Department at Minor and James Medical. He does use the Epley maneuver. Has worked well on several occasions when simply “Benign Positional Vertigo”

Hope you feel better quickly. I know its awful.

    Janet
