Last summer, King County Metro partnered with a number of West Seattle businesses and neighborhood organizations to deliver a program called West Seattle In Motion. The goal of this program was to make it easier for residents to walk, bike, carpool and take transit, and with more than 1,200 of your neighbors participating, it was quite successful.
This fall, with the arrival of a new transit service called Rapid Ride, changes to many bus routes and continued construction on the Alaskan Way Viaduct, King County Metro is launching a second round of In Motion to help get the word out and make sure West Seattle residents get all of the information they need about their transportation options. We would like to take this opportunity to introduce this new In Motion campaign, and ask for your help in designing the program.
We are beginning to plan this fall’s In Motion campaign and would greatly appreciate your advice and ideas so we can design a program that works for you and your neighbors. We will be hosting a community discussion on Wednesday June 13th, from 6-7:30 PM at Youngstown Cultural Arts Center, South Classroom (4408 Delridge Way SW), light refreshments included.
King County Metro has run In Motion programs in over 20 neighborhoods since 2004. Residents are offered the chance to order customized travel information and earn prizes by driving less. Participants consistently report that the program helped them try other transportation options, be more active, and get to know their neighbors and their neighborhoods.
