VIDEO: Airlifting part of Don Armeni Boat Ramp’s second replacement dock

Thanks to Joan Mussa for the photo and video of part of the second new dock being placed at West Seattle’s Don Armeni Boat Ramp:

The project website explains in detail why Seattle Parks couldn’t fulfill the initial promise of keeping one dock (float) open at all times, and says there won’t be one available until “late March,” but adds that “boaters can put their boats in without floats during non-working hours.”

Much needed and thank you. As far as using it in March. There have been few days where it is even worth it to go out for blackmouth. Not sure who is pleasure boating in the dead of winter. Anyway those boaters that know what they are doing made it out. This new dock is gorgeous. The other one was quite dangerous.  Was hoping for one more chunk so that it would allow for more access at low tides.  Hope the concrete can take the constant bashing from the ferry wakes because I have been told there is very little chance a breakwater will ever be installed.
