TRAFFIC ALERT: Crash at Delridge/Andover

(Added: WSB photo)

4:34 PM: A day of crashes continues with one that briefly drew a Seattle Fire “rescue” response, at Delridge and Andover. The response was downgraded a few minutes ago because everyone was reported to have gotten out of the vehicle(s) OK, but the intersection is blocked northbound according to what we’re hearing via scanner.

4:50 PM: Our crew has just arrived and says this involves a car that was apparently headed downhill (westbound) on Andover and collided with a Metro bus. The bus is in the intersection, and its driver is being checked for possible shoulder injuries, we are told; the car came to a stop against the H&R Block building on the northeast corner (photo added – it actually stopped against the doorway):

Police are directing traffic, with northbound Delridge vehicles now using one of the southbound lanes.

It’s insane out there.  Was at southcenter this afternoon.  Cars ran red lights at virtually every intersection.  Going way too fast in parking lots.Cars with no headlights on in this sloppy rain and limited visibility.  Went I5 south, came home via 599.  Nutty speeders everywhere.  Take it down a notch people.

There also was a deadly crash in Burien, Ambaum/128th … I don’t know details but a Metro alert described it as “fatality” and someone texted us too – that is beyond even our White Center site’s coverage area and it’s been all we could do to track all these WS crashes today.

Wow— I completely agree! People were speeding and weaving in and out of cars, tailgating… was blowen away. People need to drive the speed limit and have some GD patience!

I noticed alot of aggressive driving today too, even more than on sunny dry days. Wonder what’s going on?

Driving home on the west seattle bridge Saturday evening (westbound) we also noticed so many people who aren’t really mentally prepared to drive in heavy rain.  Maybe stay in if it looks too rough out for you?  SLAMMING ON YOUR BRAKES when you drive through standing water, or when your windshield gets splashed by people (going in the opposite direction who drive through standing water) is a really good way to get almost rear-ended, or passed on the right.  We definitely saw some aggressive drivers weaving in and out, and we also saw some exceptionally timid drivers who were adding to the conflict/ confusion.

Can we now lower the speed limit to 25 miles On these roads with k-8 schools, preschoolers,    group homes, and soon to be light rail pedestrians councilmember lisa herbold?

Sorry, comment time is over.
