UPDATE: Missing teenager found

MONDAY MORNING UPDATE: We have just confirmed with Madeleine’s mother that her daughter has been found and is OK.

ORIGINAL SUNDAY MORNING REPORT:

Madeleine’s mother is asking for your help finding her:

My 14-year-old daughter is missing. Yesterday about 3:30 p.m. she was walking with a friend on Beacon Hill, and got into a Jeep-style car with someone who she seemed to know. We live in West Seattle – she also has ties to Skyway, Beacon Hill, and Port Townsend.

The police told me if anyone sees her, they should call 911 and reference case # 16-328691.

Madeleine is 5’4″ about 130 pounds, has very long brown hair with bleached blond ends. She was wearing black pajama pants with yellow Batman symbols, green, yellow & white Adidas high tops with red shoelaces, and a dark green tank top. This is her photo from her first day of 9th grade this month.

Linda- that is a Seattle PD case number. The non-emergency # is 206-625-6011 and you push option 2 & then option 8.

Dalmar, it would be helpful if you did not make references to child predators and what their possible punishment should be. At this point, we do not know who Madeleine is with – speculating only makes her mother more upset then she already is, and it takes the focus off of the most important thing – finding Madeleine. Thank you.

I am Madeleine’s mom. Thank you community for your kind support on such a horrible, horrible day. Still no word about Madeleine – I don’t know where she is, who she’s with or if she’s safe. She is likely with a family member or family friend. I learned today that police will only issue an Amber Alert if they know exactly who she is with. That’s why it’s so important to keep spreading the word and keep your eyes open. If you see her, PLEASE CALL 911, reference the case number, describe the vehicle and person she’s with. Thank you again for your help and kind thoughts.

If she’s likely with a family member or friend, why are they allowing you to worry? Also, can they be charged with harboring or something?

Mom I know what you’re going through. My son, now 17, first ran away when he was 14 because he wanted his freedom. He hasn’t changed. So many tears and sleepless nights go by. I’m not saying your daughter has run away but the young are so naive and trusting. I really feal for you and hope she comes home soon. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for her.
