Winter sailing: Three Tree Point Yacht Club’s Duwamish Head Race, seen from West Seattle

Thanks to Gary Jones for sharing photos from the Three Tree Point Yacht Club‘s Duwamish Head Race (from Des Moines Marina, then back) as some of the sailboats passed Alki Point.

It’s part of this year’s Southern Sound Series of races (all listed here, on the same page where results should be linked later).

Watch for more sailboats off west-facing West Seattle three weeks from today – January 26 is the date for the Blake Island Race.

Compared to some years races, a mighty slow race. But nice to see all the boats on the “pond” (at least it is a pond today).

I was wondering what was going on out on the water. I was at Alki earlier today and as I drove home passed the lighthouse there were soooooo many sail boats. Thought.. Brrrrrrr, its a little nippy for sailing.

Yep! A slow, and challenging race, flukey and shifty winds, current lines, and chilly. But at least it did not rain!
Thanks for posting the photos, as a participant, I can say most racers LOVE shots of their boats out on the water!

Thanks for posting your photos. Everyone like pictures of their kids, and their boats next. You probably never know how much they are appreciated. Thanks for your effort, from all of us out on the water.

Sorry, comment time is over.
