Friday night’s West Seattle High School football game was actually the second half of a doubleheader of sorts. First half was presided over by the WSHS Cheerleaders – their back-to-school barbecue, held at Southwest Athletic Complex right before the game. That, we’re told, was awesome; the game itself, not as much for WSHS, which lost to visiting Seattle Prep, 32-12. More photos and the key points, ahead:
The Wildcats’ first touchdown of the game, and the season, was by #5, senior Diandre Jackson.
It came on a 40-yard pass play from quarterback Jamie Maples.
But otherwise, all the breaks seemed to go Seattle Prep’s way – they recovered most of their own fumbles, they downed punts deep into WSHS territory, recovered their own on-side kick, and found the ball when WSHS couldn’t get a handle on it.
The Wildcats’ second touchdown was at the start of the fourth quarter, when senior Jimmi Martin ran it from a short distance out.

Next Friday at SWAC, 7 pm, WSHS hosts Franklin. You can keep up with the school’s sports schedule each week through the Westside Weekly newsletter (here’s the latest edition).
