West Seattle food trucks: Parfait’ll be alongside Marination Mobile

Just announced tonight, another food truck is joining Marination Mobile on the Hans VW lot at 35th and Graham starting this Saturday – Parfait, which proclaims itself “Seattle’s only from-scratch, organic ice cream maker.” The truck launched two years ago, according to tonight’s announcement, which says owner Adria Shimada, a pastry chef, makes a 100 percent organic custard base and that her ingredients from “dairy, eggs, and produce are all sourced directly from small local farms within 150 miles of Seattle.” Oh, and hand-rolled waffle cones. And compostable cups, spoons and napkins, with “the truck’s dipping freezer (running) on a green system that requires no generators during operation.” The ice cream also will be sold by the pint as well as cup or cone. Hours on Saturdays will be the same as Marination’s – 11 am-2 pm. (Photo courtesy Parfait)

What the heck happened to the lumpia wagon in the Rite Aid parking lot?

They have been showing up at Jiffy Lube on location. I don’t know if they ever got resolution from Jiffy Lube, I watch their FB page from time to time and they were still waiting at last report for some final word from the district manager, but in the meantime they just keep rolling on to various locations.

They talk daily locations on Twitter:

To hijack the topic back to Lumpia World… I enjoy their food, but I don’t know if it’s good enough to put up with their flakiness. I follow them on Twitter and Facebook and it seems every other update is an apology that they’ll be late to this location, or are thinking about maybe trying this other location, or won’t make that location today because of this problem. Those who I know also follow the LW happenings are starting to feel the same way. The most successful food trucks around here are the dependable ones: Where Ya At, Matt? and Marination Mobile only occasionally change their rotation schedule, which means one doesn’t need to wonder if the truck will actually be where they say they’ll be, when they say they’ll be there.

Ya, except they lost their spot initially. And I happen to know they have a child with special needs. Your post is lame and unnecessary. If you don’t like their way of doing business, don’t visit. But you are dissing on somebody’s dreams here in your posting in a very tough economy and with some hard knocks to boot. People who were interested may now decide it’s not worth it and not give them a chance. I really think you should you are being unfair.

FTR, I love the Lumpia people and don’t think they are flakes at all. And virtually the REST of Twitter agrees. ;)

Cakeordeath, their food is good, the people are nice. I’m not talking about LW losing their original spot, which was not their fault. I’d love for them to succeed, and that’s why I’m stating that I hope they “settle down” soon. All the site changes and late or no-shows will not be good for their business, especially since I already know fans who grumble about the unpredictability. With a mobile venue it’s important for the purveyors to be where they say they’ll be, when they say they’ll be there… otherwise, unfortunately they’ll lose customers and possibly set-up sites. :-( I’m really not trying to be mean here.

Gotta agree w/ SS here somewhat. LW is good but their unpredictability and tendency to miss spots wears thin fast. Marination is always dependable though. I’ll be there for sliders and ice cream on Sat.!

@sarahscoot I think Lumpia World WANTS to be here in West Seattle, they’ve just had a really hard time securing a location.Marination Mobile had similar problems in the beginning. And FWIW, the city of Seattle does not make it the least bit easy for mobile food businesses to set up shop here. In fact, they make it as hard as they possibly can. So, I wouldn’t blame LW, nor would I call them flakes. They’ve got good food, they’re nice people, and they love West Seattle.

As for Parfait and Marination Mobile at the same location? What a marriage made in heaven! I’m so there this weekend!

Sorry, comment time is over.
