High-school football: West Seattle High School’s game tonight

Final score from Memorial Stadium downtown: Eastside Catholic 47, West Seattle High School 13.

ADDED 9:44 PM: More from the game, including video:

From WSB co-publisher Patrick Sand, who covered the game:

It was a very wet, sloppy night at Memorial Stadium when West Seattle began its game with Eastside Catholic on Saturday night, but the rain subsided in the first quarter, which let Eastside get its footing and go on to beat the Wildcats 47-13. West Seattle had a long drive down the field in the first half sending the ball all the way to the one yard line. A fumble on the goal line then gave the ball back to Eastside. Late in the game West Seattle scored twice, both on short runs set up by long pass plays. The first score came from Danny Castillo:

The second came from DiAndre Jackson:

I don’t know who’s reporting the West Seattle HS games, but it’s starting to get annoying when again the names of the players are being mixed up over and over again. These young men work very hard on the field, so take a little more time to know who’s doing what and get their names right. The first touchdown was Isaiah Johnson. These young men want their props as much as friends and family members want to see it in print. Thank you Mrs. Johnson

Hi, Ms. Johnson, thanks for your comment. My husband and co-publisher Patrick Sand has been covering the games for two years – from the press box, where the names are clearly announced, and the rosters are available – and this is the first time we’ve heard of a mixed-up name – if there have been other cases, no one has brought them to our attention, and I wish they would have. I will point this out to him and we’ll see what might have happened. Thank you. – Tracy
