West Seattle Whale Watch: Transient orcas seen off WS

Orca Network is quoted by the Kitsap Sun – which has been tracking transient orcas in waterways by Bremerton and Silverdale – as saying the transients have been spotted off our shores today. No other details so far but we’re committed to sharing whale sightings, so you are now on alert! 5;31 PM UPDATE: Howard from Orca Network says the sighting in question was Tuesday, not today. The transients have been seen again in Kitsap County, but not off WS, today.

Actually there were 10-12 transients off West Seattle Tuesday evening, but today 4 or 5 were reported in Sinclair Inlet this morning and were approaching Rich Passage about 10am. We’ve heard no reports of transients since then, there are at least two gray whales in Saratoga Passage.

Thanks, Howard. Erroneous info twice removed, as the Kitsap Sun acknowledges in a correction at the bottom of the blurb we originally linked which had them saying you told the AP they were seen today. Darn! Will *only* watch you guys directly in the future.

It’s a scam. Just keep paddling, and don’t let them catch your eye. No need to call the authorities unless they are within 15 feet of a canoe moorage pay station.
