What a difference a few hours make – and other photos

First photo, High Point sunrise today (thanks, Steve!); second, Lincoln Park at mid-afternoon. Here are a few more photos we wanted to share:

That’s the north-facing view from Lincoln Park‘s north side, about the same time we took the south-facing photo. And not far away, this heartening sign graces the door at Colman Pool (just three more months!):

One last photo to share — WSB contributing photojournalist Christopher Boffoli actually sent it last night, but we didn’t have a place to add it inbetween a flood of late-night coverage (including great eclipse photos from Christopher and others) — better late than never:

    Great pics, everyone, as usual!

    .

Christopher, did you use any special filters on that last one?

Hey Mike,at this time in the AM the only filter I could imagine would be a coffee filter!

Mike: No optical filters. But a light touch of the “shadow-highlight” digital filter (from Adobe Photoshop CS3 for Mac OS X) helps bring out those hazy layers around the mountains.

Yeah Rick, and actually at that early, and without coffee, since my stomach has been giving me trouble the last few days, I wouldn’t have been surprised to have found out it was a “normal” unfiltered shot, and the effect that I was seeing was caused by my bleary eyes! :D

Thanks for the info, Christopher. It’s amazing what the digital software can do!

The foggy photo is an atmospheric scene to gaze into and let the mind wander. Besides that, it’d make a good jigsaw puzzle.

Sorry, comment time is over.
