Bottled up inside

For the second time this year, the Seattle Times’ Pacific Magazine peeks into the Beach Drive waterfront home of Scott and Susan Lipsky — last January, their article focused on the house’s various entertainment-oriented features; today, the same writer expounds on the house’s “secret” wine cellar, hidden behind a bookcase a la the Batcave.

    “put..zeee candle…BAHCK…”

my lovely wife got to use this line at the Street of Dreams last year on a moving bookshelf/cave entrance. I busted out laughing.

WHB, why, who, in the world even cares about this?

Do a good thing in your world – tell WSB to go find something relevant.

OR, do you find this exciting?

Mr. Willow, you wonderful man…maybe it doesn’t interest you, but it’s about someone in West Seattle, and that’s what this place is all about. If there is a posting on the blog that doesn’t seem relevant to you…well….don’t read it :) Simple solution. don’t you think?

I gotta agree with Willow. WHO CARES!! I really don’t find that stepping into someones home and seeing all there wares does any good. What about all the people who have been kicked out of their apartments for the condo conversions. Or how about the cookie cutter townhouses that are making West Seattle look like all the rest of the communities in Seattle and the East Side. UGH!!! Where is the orginality or the historical content with people?

I can’t tell who we hate more, those with cool houses or those with no homes.

I think WSB should post whatever interests them–it’s their blog, after all. But they also enable comments and I suspect they’re OK with people expressing interest or lack thereof with their choices. This article was more interesting to me than pictures of people’s pumpkins, for example.

What a beautiful house and the secret room is very cool.

Personally, I like to dream. And I’m not talking about the glossy *Street of Dreams* monstrosities. I’d rather dream about a house that is A. in a neighborhood I love (waterfront helps) and B. has all the modern bells and whistles but retains its period details. While I’m painfully envious ;) – my thanks to the Lipskys (and WSB) for sharing.

Sorry, comment time is over.
