Beverages with a mission

TONIGHT: A Drink for the Kids, a rolling-location fundraiser for the Vera Project, stops in West Seattle tonight, 6-10 pm @ West 5. Famous WS-residing participants promised: Mark Arm of Mudhoney and Dow Constantine of the KC Council. More on ADFTK here; more on Vera here.

LATER THIS MONTH: We mentioned Friday that the Gee situation had forced West Seattle Helpline to find someplace new for its Oct. 18th winetasting/auction event. The new location has now been revealed onlineTuxedo and Tennis Shoes Catering is hosting the event @ The Hall at Fauntleroy.

Kudos to T&TS! I’m not surprised because THEY are an example of how to support their community. Per the website, let’s also point out that Capers, Metropolitan Market, Husky’s Deli, Blue Willow Catering, and West Seattle Cellars are all event partners. All names I’ve seen do this kind of thing before. I was confused as to why Gee would back out, thinking perhaps that it was financial, but by the looks of things, they were only providing space. So why not follow through? Just another mis-step in their attempt/non-attempt to fit into our neighborhood. Bring on the mini-golf complex (my favorite idea from earlier posts – and I’d add a wall for “overpass banners” to be hung).
