And to all a good night

Now, the real challenge: Sleeping in a house that hasn’t let go of the afternoon heat yet. In case you face a similar challenge, here are three final photos for the day. First, the incredible neon sunset, photographed from the top of Gatewood Hill:

Next, a view of Duwamish Head before the sun went down, photographed by Bill Barna:

And from 35th and Roxbury, a tropical — and appropriate — window decoration.

OK, off now to stuff ice cubes in the pillowcase …

Oh WSB — I sympathize! My bedroom is like a sauna at night! It traps in the afternoon heat and doesn’t cool until well past midnight. Someone told me that putting an ice block (with a bucket underneath it of course) in front of a fan can cool down a room by at least 20 degrees rather fast. Any idea if that’s true? Also, won’t that damage one’s electrical appliances? I wonder if any of your readers can verify this tip and/or any any other tips for staying cool in our hood.

Sorry, comment time is over.
