at that time of day it is still a bit darkish. Even if the recovered mirror is black I would expand the description to include dark blue cars suddenly missing a passenger side mirror. hope someone turns this person in

Is there a picture of the mirror that came off in the impact? That would help determine make and model. Like Oakley34 said, a black mirror is used on every color car available, typically lower end models don’t color match mirrors to save cost.

I’m surprised the impact did not cause major injuries, that would typically take a massive impact to knock a mirror off a vehicle, even vehicle to vehicle contact typically won’t do that.

I’ve already asked that in a followup e-mail, waiting to hear back.

Yes, police have the mirror in custody; it is indeed black. Cyclist was knocked off bike and very bruised but luckily, force hit side of leg so no fracture. Impact to bike caused mirror to break. Believe me, I’m not sure how he wasn’t more injured.

Well glad to hear he is not seriously injured. It takes a truly callous person to leave a possibly injured person on the side of the road. Hitting a cyclist is not a crime (unless the driver was unlicensed, in a stolen car etc) but leaving someone to suffer is unforgivable.

I live a block from this location – it’s a very dangerous stretch of 35th SW. I’m so glad to hear that the cyclist wasn’t more seriously injured. Sounds like his experience was plenty bad enough as it was. Can’t say anything printable about the jerk who hit him and drove off.

Just to clarify, hit-and-run with injuries is a potential felony. That’s a crime. And that’s why this is under Crime Watch. – TR

Glad he is OK….the person or persons need to come forward. Leaving someone you just hit in the middle of the road not knowing their injuries, to possibly die is a HUGE issue.

Sorry, comment time is over.
