March 15, 2012 at 10:00 pm | In High Point, West Seattle news, West Seattle politics | 6 Comments
At right with Democratic governor candidate Rep. Jay Inslee are, left, Farhiya Mohamed, and at right, Shukri Olow, High Point community builder – Shukri put together tonight’s forum at High Point Community Center, during which he spoke to and with an audience of more than 50 people. Their questions touched on topics from health care to jobs and beyond; we recorded the forum on video and will add it to this story once it’s ready here it is. (added 12:39 am)
The sponsoring High Point Neighborhood Association invited Republican candidate Attorney General Rob McKenna as well, but says he told them he could not attend. (He sent a representative.)

Rob McKenna sent a representative who spoke and answered lots of questions, about twice as long as Jay Inslee; I didn’t get his name, but he’s a longtime neighbor, and an environmental attorney; he clarified/talked about the statement made by Inslee re the health care lawsuit (which I appreciated, because it’s being misrepresented by Inslee in my opinion), and he addressed clean technologies, business taxes, health care, education, many other topics

great event; too bad there wasn’t more of a turnout

Thanks for the great coverage, Patrick. Beautiful picture too. Community organizers are what make this country work.

I don’t know anything about Inslee. But for some reason I get the impression he’s a self-serving political parasite. And could you ask for a cheesier smile?
Of course my opinion is only based on his leaving his position to run for governor. Could any informed bloggers comment on him please ?
Comment by dbsea — 12:06 pm March 16, 2012 #
Why yes, he did leave his position to run for Governor, rather than keep his current position, and not be able to fulfill it as he should, due to being involved in the Governor’s race.
.
I think that’s a more valid reason, than resigning from an elected position to, what was it, go on a “reality” show(?) after only fulfilling half a term as Governor of Alaska.

Sarah Palin, whatever your current opinion of her may be, did some nice things for AK. Among them, coming up with ACES, a plan that put more oil money in the pockets of Alaskans.
She accomphlished a hellevua lot more than a lot of sniping bystanders will ever do.

I went to high school with Rob McKenna, and I would rather shove steel spikes into my eyes than vote for him. Jay Inslee is a good man.
