Show your support for Charlestown Cafe

Mark Wainwright reports on the Our Town West Seattle group that he and the folks who run the endangered Charlestown Cafe have agreed on a time and date for a community meeting: 7 pm March 28, at CC. They’re hoping for a big show of support; mark your calendar now!

Why are all of you on here so against Petco going in there? If it wasn’t going to be a Petco then it would be some other retailer. What this boils down to is that the owner/developer of the land that the cafe is on is being greedy and wants more money for this. The owner of the Cafe did not want to/ could not pay what they were asking so they went elsewhere. This is where Petco comes in. If the building is being built then why not go for it? I do not see the point in showing support for a Cafe that does not have good food, and it is the owner of the cafe that made the choice to not pay so he lost the land lease.

A couple of years ago, we lost the Admiral Way Cafe to Bank of America, and now we’re losing what I consider one of West Seattle’s best restaurants. I don’t relish the thought of having to go to the Junction for my weekend breakfast outing.
Award-winning chowder, and that Corned Beef Benedict will be sorely missed. It’s not too often that a restaurant on the West Coast gets awards for their chowder in competitions at Newport, Rhode Island.

Sorry, comment time is over.
