DOG SIGHTING (2/25/12)
From Monica- approx 1 PM, I was walking my dog on 26th AVE SW and Brandon St, near the park. We spotted a male, very small and light tan, possible chihuahua (maybe yorkie) mix? It had pretty long hair. It had a blue color and leash on but no tags. It was very afraid of people, but interested in my dog. I stepped on the leash to attempt to catch it but the collar was way too loose and it got away, running south down 26th. I attempted to follow it but lost site of it.

Sadie, our weimaraner/hound mix that escaped our yard today (Jan. 17th) has been found! She wandered two blocks down after escaping the yard and asked for help from a kind neighbor who took her to West Seattle Vet Clinic. This very kind neighbor then drove around showing her picture to people around town and finally ran across my husband randomly as he was out and about trying to track Sadie. Thank you so much to Barbara’s kindness, West Seattle Vet for keeping her contained today, and anyone else that spent time searching for her. It is truly appreciated. Some people are truly good! Thanks again, Jeigh and Lea

Disappeared last night near SW Holden and 38th Av. SW on Gatewood Hill. Large black and white male with distinctive ‘moustache’ markings, “Mr. Moustache” just arrived at his new forever home Saturday afternoon so he is in a neighborhood he is unfamiliar with and will likely be disoriented, hungry and cold. Coming home ~30 min ago we saw a lost dog wandering in the street between the Admiral PCC and the McDonald’s. Looked like a golden retriever, maybe mixed with a little bit of lab. CAT SIGHTINGS (1/10/12):
Chelsea e-mailed to report: “While I was out working on leash training our new puppy this afternoon in our driveway near the corner of California Ave SW and Andover, two cats heard me talking to my cat and starting mewing like mad. They were outside in the courtyard of the apartment on the corner of California and Andover and hopped the fence, running right up to us and following us, talking all the while. They were very well-cared-for-looking and obviously extremely confident and friendly, so I have to assume they were someone’s pets that had gotten out. I don’t think they were too happy about being outside though as they tried to follow us into the house and were quite insistent about it! It’s several hours later now and my neighbor just called to ask if I knew anything about them, as they were mewing and asking to be let into his house as well. The first of the two cats was a black shorthaired kitty with a little bit of white on him. The other was mostly white with I think some brown or tabby markings. She may have been part Siamese because she was the very talkative one.”
FOUND CAT (1/10/12):

LOST CAT (added Christmas Day)
Our indoor/outdoor Meatball Kitty is missing from her home in the Arbor Heights neighborhood (40th and 102nd SW) of West Seattle for about 2 weeks now. Can you help us look for her? She is a small female with tuxedo (black with white) markings. Last seen wearing a black collar and I.D. tag. Meatball is a bit of a wanderer but she has never been gone for this long and we are worried. She has a habit of getting herself into predicaments that involve climbing very (very!) tall fir trees and getting herself trapped in sheds. She rarely meows so she could be in need of your help but will be too polite to ask. We miss her. Please contact us at deleecee3@gmail.com or 206-713-4102 with any information.
The three dogs posted here as lost/found on Christmas Eve are all reunited with their respective people!
SIGHTING (added 12/23/11)
A few minutes ago (3:15 p.m. Friday 12/23) I spotted a loose dog at the corner of Thistle & California. I have called it in to Seattle Animal Shelter, but if other people call w/ sightings it will help them find the dog more easily (SAS: (206) 386-7387). Dog is a large light brown pit bull (solid color, no patches) with forward-flopping ears, full-length tail, no collar. This is a MAGNIFICENT dog, extremely healthy and well-cared-for. He/she looked at me and considered coming to my car, but in the end decided not to — took off into the yards heading NE from the intersection. This dog definitely looked like an owned animal and I hope he/she is found again and returned home!

Hendo is a large male tabby – mostly orange with a white nose, chest and paws. He is very friendly and about 7 years old, and will probably respond to his name. When we last saw him, he had a silver leather collar with a blue bell. If you have seen him, please call Katie at (206) 920-7889. Thank you for your help.

Our cat, “Rocky” has been missing since 12/3/11. He is a bit bigger than this photo. Very sweet & Micro chipped. Missing between Thistle and Elmgrove – 35th Ave SW area. Please call or text if you have seen him 206-276-1981. His best friend is a Dog (& us) who misses him dearly.
CAT SIGHTING 12/6/11
We think he might be male, but is too fuzzy to tell for sure and don’t want to pry. He’s very friendly and has a blue collar with bell but no tags and white whiskers. “He” has been hanging around the alley by Alaska St, between 46th and 47th for some time now. During the summer we thought the cat belonged to a house nearby, but “he” is still hanging around, even on cold and wet days, and seems thinner and hungry… although he might just be conning us for treats. We’re giving him some outdoor shelter, food and friendship and he seems to thoroughly be enjoying all of it. If anyone recognizes this cat and can assure us us that he has a home, please contact us at twd6400@yahoo.com.

Found very friendly black cat. He’s been lurking on Erskine Way, near the Alaska Junction, since the week of Thanksgiving. If you are missing him, please call 206 300 4729 to identify. I’m taking him to the vet tomorrow to have him scanned for a chip.

I’m asking that if anyone see’s him or finds him please do not contact animal control and contact me asap at 206-696-8178, it’s a hefty bill and i would greatly, greatly appreciate it. He is a total sweetheart and any treat will bring him to you, he’s a sucker for food. Thank you!

FOUND KITTEN (11/29/2011)
I “found” a little black male kitten, he is probably between 6 months and not quite a year, and not neutered, very friendly and answers to the random name I gave him Francis. He has been hanging around my apartment complex, Westhaven Apartments, at SW Holden and 24th Ave SW, all summer and now into fall/winter. I thought he belonged to one of the other residents as he was always pretty much in the same area, so I started asking around and come to find out he does not belong to anyone I have found in the Westhaven Apartments, near building K, on the street side facing 24th Ave SW. Before I turn him over to the great people at Friends of the Animals Foundation, I just want to make sure he does not belong to someone. Teresa, (206) 252-7631
TWO CAT SIGHTING REPORTS (11/29/2011)
On my run this evening I spotted a friendly orange/brown tabby cat with long fur and a thick tail at the corner of 46th and Alaska. It had a blue collar with a bell on it. I’m not sure if it’s missing or was just out for a walk, but in case someone is looking for it, it followed me north across Alaska and stopped in the yard of the first house on the west side of 46th. The other cat I spotted unfortunately looked like it was hit by a car. It was a grey and black striped tabby cat with a striped tail. It looked small- either not fully grown yet or just small in stature. I spotted it in the grass by the sidewalk on the north side of Genesee, between 47th and 51st. My heart goes out to its family.
NOTE FOR SOMEONE MISSING A CAT (Tuesday 11/29/2011)
On either Friday night 11/25 or Sat 11/26 a cat was hit and killed at California and Seattle street in the West Seattle Admiral District. She is a Tortoiseshell/Tabby with some calico marking but mainly tortie/ tabby. She has white feet and a clipped ear.. Could have been a feral kitty at some point because of her ear but she has no microchip.. She is about 1 to 2 years old and about 10lbs.. On Saturday night i took her to the West Seattle Animal Hospital so no wild animals would take her. They are holding her body for now. West Seattle Animal Hospital’s number…206 932 3308
DOG SIGHTINGS (Monday morning, November 28, 2011)
**editor’s note, these may be the same dog**
On my way in to work this morning a rather large black (with white coming in on muzzle and scruffy beard) dog crossed California in front of me. It looks somewhat schnauzery but bigger. I stopped and tried to catch him (had my lab in the car and so, a handy leash). He turned when I whistled and called, playfully, but kept just out of my reach. He was heading south on California at 8:15. Oh, he’s got a carabiner hanging from his collar, as if he escaped being clipped to something.

FOUND CAT (added Thursday 11/3/11):
We’ve been repeatedly visited by what we originally took to be a neighborhood outdoor cat. We haven’t seen it in a long time, and then about 6 weeks ago it started showing up more regularly. It has begun staying on our porch for hours at a time, and making lots of noise to get in. It is reasaonably clean, but quite thin, and if it does have an owner, I suspect it is a bit neglected… or just roams free for most of its life. We cannot let it adopt us, due to allergies, but after showing it the merest modicum of attention (we’ll sit on the porch and pet it, and we put a blanket and some water out on the porch for it, since it was already sleeping on our porch every other night or so), has made it all the more enthusiastic about getting into our house, and adopting us. We thought it might move on, as before, but even after ignoring him for days, he’s still here. If he doesn’t have a home, he needs one. I don’t want him to come to rely on us, as we can’t make that commitment to him, but he needs regular meals, and to be cleaned. We’re starting to think that if he doesn’t leave, we’ll eventually need to take him to a shelter, but we’d rather find his owners, if they’re missing him. He currently prowls the Highland Park area. Fluffy, solid white, friendly and affectionate, with two different colored eyes.
If you know who he belongs to, get in touch voice or text: 206 669 6590 or djdatapimp AT gmail DOT com
FOUND DOG (added Thursday 11/3/11)
This sweet boy was found at West Crest dog park on Wednesday November 2nd. He was wearing a green collar, but no tags. He knows basic commands and is friendly. Several of us at the park tried to find his owner, but no one claimed him. Animal Control said it was too late to come pick him up and we didn’t want to leave him in the park all night (cold and heavy rain). Around 6PM, I took him home to give him some water and food, then to Lien Animal Clinic (206.932.1133); no microchip. He stayed at Lien last night. I spoke with them today (11/3); he is still there and will likely be picked up by Animal Control by the end of the day. If you recognize him, please alert his owners.

SIGHTING OF POSSIBLY LOST CAT IN DISTRESS (added Thursday, 1/6/11)
I was walking on 35th Ave SW in the Arbor Heights neighborhood where it meets Marine View Drive when I saw a small black cat collapse. I knocked at several homes but no one answered. I called 911 but was redirected to Highline animal control. I waited on hold then got disconnected several times. Not sure what happened to the cat but it was definitely hurt. I could not get very close because I had my dog (that does not like cats) with me. The cat is small and all black.
FOUND CAT (added Thursday, 10/6/11)
Noname adopted us July of this year. We’re at Othello and 28th Avenue SW. If she’s your cat, we’d love to give her back to you as she doesn’t get along with our older cats. She’s 2-3 years old, is spayed, doesn’t mind being picked up, she’s visited the West Seattle Animal Hospital for vaccines and has been given a clean bill of health. Her claws were super short when she was found. She’s as sweet as can be and loves to play, but she needs to be in a home with no other cats. If this looks/sounds like your kitty, or if you want her, please contact me. Karen, (425) 803-9757

LOST DOG (added Sunday afternoon):
Lost Siberian Husky, his name is Bear and he got out of the yard this morning around 9 am, my grandfather was doing work in the yard and let him in the front and he found his way out. He’s really friendly but un-neutered, so can be a little feisty but he does NOT bite. He is three years old but is not a standard Siberian; he stands tall (has been mistaken for a wolf-hybrid), is white, grey and black, wearing a RED COLLAR and has a lion cut that is fairly new. He also has one eye that is drippy but he is not sick, he has an eyelid problem and nothing more. Very, very sweet dog and I would really love to see him back home, and I’m sure my other husky would like to have his friend back as well. If you have any, ANY information or have found him please call me asap at (253) 202-2093, if i do not answer just leave me a voicemail. I have unlimited texting as well.

I hope it’s owner can track the little gut down before it gets hurt!

ABANDONED ROOSTER (added Thursday)
I just thought you might like to know that there is an abandoned rooster currently running loose in the 3600 and 3700 blocks of SW Myrtle Street. Apparently there was a rooster and a hen abandoned by their owner and left in a plastic crate on the corner about two days ago. They got out of the crate and are running loose in the neighborhood. There is no sign of the hen now but the rooster has survived two nights outdoors with no protection and has been serenading the neighborhood with his intermittent crowing. A neighbor and I tried unsuccessfully to capture him. We would love for this story to have a happy ending with the rooster being captured and taken to a good home.
FOUND DOG (added Thursday)
I found this little dog (picture attached) about 8:30 AM on 34th Ave SW between Morgan and Holly. He ran up to me while I was walking my dog. It was hard to grab his leash because he kept darting away, but I was finally able to. He’s very sweet! No tag but has a black harness and a red leash. It looks like he’s been running around dragging the leash for a while- it’s very dirty & tattered. I got him in my backyard but will probably take him to the Seattle Animal Shelter (in Interbay) because I can’t bring him inside. He’s not neutered and likes to mark everything. I gave him food and he ate a little bit but not a lot.

FOUND DOG (added Thursday)
Sent overnight: Someone left this poor creature tied up outside of my home across the street from the Dragonfly Pavilion. My guess is that someone found it roaming the park and, knowing that my neighbor always keeps a leash attached to the tree next to our sidewalk, hooked the dog up there in the hope that its owner would easily see it if they visited the park again. It’s a sweet dog, crying outside right now because I don’t know if I can have it inside with my cat. I’m glad it’s not a terribly cold night. If it’s your dog, please call me *anytime* at (206) 271-1880, or stop by and pick it up at 4101 28th Ave SW. I may bring it inside anyway, because it sounds miserable. If no-one claims it by afternoon, I’ll have to take it to an animal shelter. It has no license or tag, but it’s wearing a red harness.

We found this Australian Shepherd on Tuesday, August 9 at approximately 4:45 p.m. The un-neutered male dog was crossing California Avenue SW, near Findlay (C&P Coffee Shop 5612 California Ave. SW). He has been injured and is unable to bear weight on his right rear leg. We took him to Lien Animal Clinic (3710 SW Alaska Street) (206) 932-1133 for treatment. Lien will hold him overnight and then likely turn him over to the Animal Shelter. This dog was wearing an orange collar, with no tags and was scanned for a ID chip without success. We are hoping his owner can retrieve him prior to his leaving Lien Clinic. If you have any questions, please call Lien, or you can call us at (206) 937-1113.

FOUND CAT (added Sunday):
Found a very friendly orange and white cat with moderately long fur near the Westwood village area of West Seattle. He is a neutered male with all his claws and is quite well socialized. He is extremely friendly and is not shy around people at all and could even be called clingy. Since his fur was heavily matted and he appeared to be somewhat distressed, my roommate and I allowed him to spend the night in our home and fed him. (Update, they tried taking him to Seattle Animal Shelter, but the shelter wouldn’t take the cat, saying the finders should let it go back outside since it’s probably somebody’s outdoor cat. They will keep an eye on it as best they can – if you think it’s yours, e-mail send2r.bird@hotmail.com.)

Chicken found on the Longfellow Creek Trail, close to Delridge & Brandon, last night, July 5th, by a couple out for a walk. They brought her to us knowing that we had other chickens and thinking it might be one of ours. She isn’t. Appears to be about 7 weeks old, mainly black with some white spots, possibly an Austrlalorp or mixed breed. We have her separated from ours now – they went in for the kill when they meet her this morning. Hope to find her original home. Very sweet – seems like she has been handled quite a bit. MISSING CHICKENS (posted Sunday):
I am missing 4 chickens. There is no sign that there was an attack, otherwise there would be blood and feathers. It seems that someone came into my yard and stole 4 chickens. They haven’t started laying yet so they aren’t of any use as layers and they are too tough for slaughter since they aren’t meat breeds anyways. The breed stolen are 2 Buff Orpingtons and 2 Welsummers. They are pretty much grown, but plain and simply they didn’t belong to anyone else and need to be sent straight home. One is missing a toe and has a unique feather pattern. I could spot it in a second and know that she is mine. They went missing on Friday July 1st when I went out of town, a friend was chicken sitting when they disappeared. I have attached pictures of the breeds. I’ve checked the lost pet hotline and no one has called/turned in chickens during this time frame. I would like to be contacted if you see my girls. angelina.shell@gmail.com
LOST WHITE CAT AND LOST RHODESIAN RIDGEBACK BOTH HOME! THANKS, WSB’ERS!
LOST CAT (posted Saturday): My Siamese cat, Jazz, has been missing since Wednesday, June 29th. He is a 16 year old Siamese/Himalayan mix. I live on 36th Ave. SW between SW Holly and SW Willow. He will likely come to you if you make a clicking sound as that is typically how I would get him to come running home. He is very friendly and is very quiet. If he does meow it sounds more like a howl than it does a meow.

She (we’re pretty sure it’s a female) was wandering around from door to door, as if she was trying to get in somewhere. She is very friendly, but just didn’t seem to belong outside. She was hungry and seemed eager to get picked up. No collar. We were worried about coyotes, so we picked her up for the night. Please call 206-235-9182

FOUND CAT (posted Tuesday): Found today, Tuesday, June 28, near Brandon & 45th: Skinny, young, black male cat. One eye is a bit weepy, and he is quite thin, but seems otherwise happy. He walked right in our front door uninvited, doesn’t mind our big dog, and has made himself quite at home! He has a small patch of white on his chest, and big orange eyes. My daughter thinks he’s adopting us because we lost our cat in May (perhaps due to old age), and we’re falling in love with this friendly new kitty, but if he is yours we want to return him to his rightful owner. Email kristinalouise1969@gmail.com if he is yours or you know anything about him.
LOST CAT (posted Tuesday): Our cat “Poppy” went out Thursday (6/23) and didn’t come home. We live in the North Admiral District, one block east of the Metro Market. Poppy is a small black cat with one or two white hairs on her chest. She is skittish and liable to run from people. Any sightings would be welcome.
LOST CAT (posted Monday)
Mobius was last seen Friday June 24 at home near 46th/Erskine Way SW. He is neutered and doesn’t deviate from his routine…we are very worried he is trapped or injured.
PLEASE CHECK YOUR GARAGES, BASEMENTS, PORCHES if you live in the Seaview neighborhood!
Mo is a handsome and friendly grey and black tabby with stripes that are almost spots. He has green eyes and is 10 pounds. He is 13 years old but still very active and healthy looking with a glossy coat. He had his stomach shaved for an ultrasound a few months ago and it has not grown back all the way so he’s still got a balding belly. His collar, if he’s still wearing it, is light blue suede with a little bell to scare birds and a black circular tag with his name, my address, and my phone number. If he’s lost his collar you can see where it was since the hair doesn’t grow there anymore. Note: His sister is identical in markings but she has a hanging belly and an orange collar. This is the longest they have ever been separated and she is just as upset as we are. Please call 206-898-5138 if you see him.

LOST CAT (added 5/26): LOST MAMA CAT! A LITTER OF 5 HUNGRY KITTENS AWAIT HER RETURN! Smooshy, a petite sandy, gray and white tabby was moved a week ago from her North Admiral home to a garage by Lafayette Elementary School. She’s been missing since Tuesday, 5/24 afternoon and has left behind a box of five 3-week old kittens we’re bottle feeding. We assume she tried to make her way back to her old stomping grounds or else got frightened by something in the yard, ran off and got lost, or is hiding. She is not wearing a collar. PLEASE if you see a cat that fits this description (she will also display signs of nursing) call this number: 206-919-9509.
Ms. Jackson, a 13 year old red eared slider turtle, is missing from Youngstown. Youngstown has organized one search party and we are hoping that neighbors and drivers in the area will keep an eye out for her. She is 10″ long with a black top shell, yellow striped pajamas and a yellow bottom shell. She is very wise, friendly and does not bite. She was last seen on May 19th heading east from Youngstown toward Pigeon Point. She’s active this time of year because she is ready to lay eggs (a lot like a chicken) and she got away from us in the garden. She’s likely in the greenbelt between the new and old Cooper schools. We’re offering a $100 reward to anyone who finds her and returns her to us. If you see Ms. Jackson please call Gina at 206-355-1170.
JUST IN, Friday morning: Found on 49th SW, between Oregon & Alaska St, an elderly male brown mixed breed, possibly Shar Pei and Corgi in him. He appears almost blind and was wandering in the street. No collar. We stayed with him and sent a note to the blog, knocked on doors and asked around at Ercolini Park, but no one knew anything about him. Took him to our home and gave him shade and water… he was very thirsty… but we were unable to keep him. He’s a little cranky. Finally, called animal control and they’ve taken him in. Said he wasn’t chipped. If you know of anyone who is missing this dog, please contact the Seattle animal shelter right away.
JUST IN, Wednesday afternoon: Lost on 5/16/2011
Beloved cat, Mozart (Mo)
Last seen in our yard near Brandon & 45th
Mo is a 13 year old handsome black and white cat with a pink nose, yellowish eyes. He’s a big guy, weighing about 15 pounds, and he is extremely friendly and affectionate. Usually he comes in every night and sleeps on my foot, but last night he didn’t come home, and today we found his collar and tag in our front yard. He is microchipped. Have you seen him? If so, please email kristinalouise1969@gmail.com. We miss him immensely!
FOUND DOG (just in Wednesday afternoon): Very old black dog found on corner of Fauntleroy and Willow. I believe that it is a girl dog, with very arthritic back legs. She is very sweet and kind and has orange collar but no id tags. I took her to the West Seattle Vet Hospital on California to be scanned for a chip and animal control was going to come get her tonight. She was exhausted when I found her and soaking wet and quite smelly.

FOUND IN GLENDALE: (received Monday night) My husband spotted a tan pit mix this morning running north on 12th Ave SW in White Center. Then later (around noon) I was driving on 509 headed south and there were 2 dogs running down the freeway headed north. Turns out it’s the same pit mix, he’s now at my house. He was running with a border collie mix, tan and white. So, 2 stray dogs found in Glendale. Tan and White, younger female border collie mix, probably 45lbs, she is in heat. Tan pit bull mix, not neutered, probably about 55lbs. Both dog friendly and sweet. The pitty is a little timid.

SIGHTING: (reported Thurs afternoon 3/24): I was out running today at about 36th and Trenton near Westwood Village and I saw a puppy that had gotten out of its house and was roaming free. It looked very similar to a greyhound and was very wiry with a greyish appearance. I tried to chase and catch it, but it ran into somebody’s back yard. The owners of the house did not answer their door when I rang, so I waited a few minutes and continued with my run hoping that the dog had relaxed in the safety of the backyard that it had escaped to. I continued with my run after that. I asked a few people on the street if they knew who the dog belonged to, but none were familiar with it.

SAD NOTE: I live at the intersection of Fauntleroy and SW Raymond St…. someone hit a cat and left it on the front steps of our condo building. We’d like to let people know in case someone contacts you about a missing cat in that area. The cat was a large white cat with gray markings – no collar. ANOTHER SAD NOTE: I hate to post this, but at about 4:00 this afternoon I drove by 35th and Barton and there was a dog who had apparently been hit by a car. It was lying on the pavement outside of Tony’s Produce, not moving. Ten minutes later, I drove by again and it was gone. I only saw the back end of the dog. It was light colored and had long, skinny legs. I am so sorry to report this, but the dog belonged to someone and it has been removed.

Just in (Tuesday night 2/15): As of this morning, Feb 15, there has been a large dark gray tabby cat hanging around under our deck. We live on the 5900 block of 35th Ave SW. I chased him out of the yard this am when my cats were growling at him through the back door, thinking he would ‘go home’. Later in the morning he was back and when I went outside he ran under the deck. This evening as I fed my cats he was back at the back door. Asking for food??? He is a little jumpy, maybe because I chased him twice this morning. I’ll try to get a picture of him, if I do I’ll send it along. Our phone: 206-938-0563
