What? When did this happen? I just called Seattle Parks & Recreation and was referred to Carol Baker @ SW District Park Resources.

Please report back. That zipline is the primary reason I moved to West Seattle. Well…. it was one of the reasons…

I read on WSB a couple of years ago that someone got hurt on it. Could be related or it’s having maintenance done? Yes please report back what she says. Thanks!

I’m sure someone is hurt daily, but it’s fun and my last hope in Seattle that we won’t all be expected to live like the people in “Wall-E” very soon.

Oh I hope it comes back!

I put out a message to Seattle Parks’ media team soon as I saw this post … but it was fairly late in the afternoon and I didn’t get a reply before they went home for the day. Hopefully in the morning. FWIW this too can be considered “breaking news,” and we appreciate calls/texts about this sort of thing, not just car crashes, fires, police sightings, etc., because the sooner we hear, the sooner we can check on it. 206-293-6302. Trees down, power outages, land use signs, you name it. And yes, we’ve had more than one story over the years about playground-equipment removal!

I hope it’s just for repair. My daughter loves this.

I just got off the phone with Terry with the Seattle parks department he said the zipline is being repaired because a pulley or ball bearing came loose.

The zipline will be back to Lincoln park next week.

And Luckymom wins the info race! So much for the alleged advantage of being media :) We’ll see how it’s phrased if and when I hear back, just for curiosity’s sake … TR

She calls herself luckymom30. But we, the forum readers, are the “lucky” ones for having her!

Seriously, I love that zipline. I’m approaching 40 but I don’t care how stupid I look. I’m gonna ride that thing until I can’t walk anymore.

That thing is a staple and probably a destination for many a kid. It has been for mine.

sorry I didn’t see this sooner…. we were there on Monday and it was not working properly – meant to call Parks myself to say it needed repair but ended up heading home asap to ice a playground injury and forgot all about it.

I had no idea Lincoln Park had a zipline! I hope it’s fixed soon so I can try it out!

Awww thanks Skeeter for your kind words, they made my day! I call myself luckymom30 because I just feel so fortunate to have our daughter as I was told so many times I could not have children.

Don’t worry about looking foolish, just have fun.

Phew. Almost had a panic attack when I read the first few posts on this thread. Huge sigh of relief when I saw that it’ll be back!

And FWIW my answer just in from Parks spokesperson Dewey Potter: “One of the grounds crew noticed something malfunctioning and locked it off and called in a work order. The staff who repair play equipment went out to look at it, and ordered parts. We hope to have it back in operation by the end of next week (week of April 9).”

Great news. I wish it was a longer line :) but probably wouldn’t be as safe then for children.

Have lived in west Seattle for 10 years and had no idea. Where is it?

The zipline is located at the south end of Lincoln Park near the first set of swings and jungle gym.
