beaglenutMemberCan anyone tell me where to get moving boxes? I’m thinking 20 or so… Last time I ended up shelling out $5/ea to UPS since I left it until it was too late for other options. Thanks for your help.

sbreParticipantCheck out the FREE section on Craigslist, often times considerate folk are trying to keep them out of the recycling system.
You can also post an ad requesting them while you’re there, in the WANTED section.
Good luck with the move.

JoBParticipantboxes recycled too many times to use for moving?
they can still be used as insulation lining the walls of the simple sleeping structures at Nickelsville…
The “camp” doesn’t generally accept cardboard because in the open it creates habitat for rats,
but individuals can accept it to insulate their wooden sleeping structure.
if you have boxes you would like to get rid of and don’t know a homeless person whose house at Nickelsville needs insulating…
you can contact me.
One new house went up this weekend and another is slated to follow at the end of the week.

rwParticipantTry Home Depot. I saw someone purchasing some moving boxes from there the other day and asked how much the HD boxes are. The price she quoted was ab. $1.50 if I recall. I may need some in the near future and will be checking them out.
Also, don’t forget to check your friendly local supermarkets. They dispose of a lot of smaller boxes every day.

wseakellParticipantLIQUOR STORES! While the boxes aren’t huge, I’ve found they are happy to get rid of them and they’re free. Maybe just give them a call before you drive down to make sure they have some!

mtnfreakParticipantHome Depot prices are cheap – $1-$3/per box, and if you save the receipt you can return the unused ones for a full refund. Afterwards, donate the used empty boxes to a charity and claim it on your tax return!
My wife also tells me that the Junction True Value often has boxes, and is willing to give them away.

SueParticipantFor my past few moves, I’ve ordered boxes from allboxes.com – they have some really great packages of varying sizes that include bubble wrap, tape (as well as just plain boxes) and they deliver them to your door with free shipping. I don’t think they’re necessarily cheap, especially for small orders of boxes, but if you need a lot it’s certainly convenient. It was worth it to me to just have it show up at my door rather than having to drive all over creation and try and fit them all in my car.

Also, appliance stores can be a good resource for huge sturdy boxes for moving (and also for sheet-mulching+).
