I haven’t seen any comments on this for a while. I’m curious how the latest incarnation is going. What say you?

The free weights area has some new equipment and some of the previous equipment is gone. The area’s functionally the same for the most part, though I wish they hadn’t removed the second squat rack.

I don’t use the cardio area much but the stair steppers seem to be working. A few more TV’s would be nice. Locker rooms are nothing special but there’s always soap, towels and whatnot.

It’s still a work in progress but it’s fine overall and looks to be improving. For me, it’s the best option in the area when it comes to equipment and price.

I joined again on Monday after confirming the the pool, sauna, and steam room were back in operation. I used the sauna which was fine. The door has been replaced and new slats put in the back bench. I was told the steam room was working well. There is still something pending on the whirlpool and a near-term target date for completion which I didn’t register because I never use it.

A number of staff who left when Sam Adams took over have returned. Their spirits seem good.

There seems to be an ongoing process of integrating new equipment, both for aerobics and resistance training. So it seem to me the layout isn’t as ordered as it could and hopefully will be. Along with that, the area available for stretching isn’t as partitioned as I’d prefer.

The men’s locker room and showers were clean. I was there from 11-1:00 and there were towels on the shelves.

The spin cycle room was full of bikes.

Importantly, I was told the new management will handle billing themselves rather than outsource it to an outside service like Sam Adams did. That difference made me willing to set up an automatic monthly credit card billing rather than have to pay in person each month at the front desk, having heard about the many problems people had with the company Adams used. I had paid a year in advance before not renewing, so I never had the same difficulties.

Familiar faces I spoke with are satisfied that things are coming along. Anyone expecting a total transformation with all the elements completely in place should probably wait another month or two IMHO.

I got a flyer in my mailbox inviting me to join, which is more than I’ve seen from any previous ownership (I’ve never been to this gym).

Most of the classes are back up with good instructors, new equipment in cardio and weights. They are just starting to put in new equipment in the women’s room.

They are having a soft opening on Saturday and Sunday, open to all to take a class and try the club out.

Today, Sunday the 25th, the temperature of the pool is up to 82F and the whirlpool is working. There was a lifeguard when I was there at 2 PM. They have a sound system in the pool area and Friday it was so loud it was strong even in the sauna until a few folks mentioned it and they turned it down. Today it wasn’t on in the pool area at all.
