AshleyMemberAnyone travel this morning from Bellevue to Seattle this morning with westbound lanes being closed?? What was the commute like?

charlabobParticipantI went from Seattle to Bellevue, about that time, and it looked HORRIBLE. Basically, you have four lanes of people in two lanes.
I’m making the Bellevue to Seattle run tonight; I don’t expect it to be much better.

bluebirdMemberIt was slower, but not as bad as predicted. The worst part is the backup while everyone merges into 2 lanes. Added maybe 10 more minutes. I would worry more if you were driving at 7am.
It may get worse when people hear it’s not that bad. I’m guessing lots of people avoided the area today.

rockergirlMemberAnyone commuting from West Seattle to Bellevue who wants to join our carpool let me know – we leave Avalon at 6:30 am and head back from Bellevue at 4 pm in the afternoon – we have room for 2 people who want to share driving to and from the north east Bellevue area or downtown Bellevue corridor. Email me at rockergirl5678@yahoo.com

JeannieParticipantHow was the commute from Bellevue to West Seattle this evening? Or is everyone still in their cars?

rockergirlMemberCommute was ok at 4:00 – not great but not too bad – took probably 15 minutes longer than usual.
Tough part for me was from Bellevue Way over 2-3 lanes to get into Express Lanes – some cars heading off on Mercer Island ramps merging into right lane while cars coming on from Bel Way merging across to left lanes. You can tell people were gawking at the construction site and pleasure boats on the lake since once we got passed it sped up – guess thats what we get with beautiful summer weather. Probably will try different approach tomorrow to see if it is any better. I think alot of people took today off – hopefully it won’t get much worse.

WSratsinacageMemberHi rockergirl.. I commute to WS around 4 too. What was up yesterday? Traffic much worse. Guess everyone is back from vacation?
.
Yeah, I like how traffic goes from a crawl when getting on the floating bridge then goes up to 55 MPH once we pass the construction. Tuesday, there was a WSP motorcycle cop just standing next to his bike on the shoulder of the floating bridge, staring at traffic. Didn’t do much for traffic flow. Yesterday I saw him giving out tickets to those driving in the bus only lane.

rockergirlMemberYeah since it has been reported to be “not that bad” more people are giving it a try I guess and making it worse. IT IS BAD PEOPLE stay away so I can get home faster! Too much merging going on and gawking too. Oh well it will be over soon.
Good luck in the meantime.

WSratsinacageMemberAmen on the merging and gawking. Traffic was even worse yesterday .. instead of 5 extra minutes, it takes 30 extra minutes. 1 hour to got less than 14 miles! I might just drive around. People cut to the front and merge at the last minute, that really pisses me off.
