phoenixParticipantI have tiny ants in my basement that are primarily in the bathroom & laundry room. I’d appreciate any ideas or suggestions on how I can get rid of them without using anything that would harm my kids or puppy. Thank you.

JoBParticipantok.. so i baited for months at the spot where i found the most ants… i bombed both the crawl space and the attic. i rebaited. then i put down a boric acid/ sugar mix which my ants ignored.
i rebaited at about a dozen locations in the house and today i put down powdered pellets that come in a shaker bag around the perimeter in the crawl space and outside under the deck…
i won’t put down pellets around the exterior as i have dogs that will taste anything.
i think i can hear the ants laughing..
but with any luck they won’t laugh for long

beefParticipantwow. lots of ants. i had the occasional excursion through two of my front windows (near the pantry and where my kids drink apple juice). i finally got the terro ant traps, set them out, and the ants came marching. A two foot stream of ants from the window trim for at least 12 hours, to and from the trap but then they were gone. I think it has been at least 6 weeks since I’ve seen an ant.

bimincParticipantI have to second the use of Terro traps. We’ve tried several different traps over the years and they were only semi-effective. Tried Terro last month and the ants are gone! Got them at True Value.

JoBParticipantmy ants have developed a fondness for terro traps.. i can tell you that they prefer them over every other trap we have tried.. including honey and borax.
in all fairness the neighbor told me that the hill i live on is basically one big ant hill.. i probably solve the problem one small nest at a time.. the problem is that there are so many nests..
we will see if the latest double gambit works.
i am hopeful.

birdrescuerParticipantWhen terro doesn’t work I call Yohann at Progressive Pest 206-444-6250. Does inside and out and will come back in a few months a bait for free if they come back. No toxic stuff. Safe for pets and kids if they accidentally get into it.

StarskyParticipantHot sauce will work to get rid of ants, I can help ya with slugs and 8 legged friends as well. Just ask. Al
