blakely0105@gmail.comParticipantI’m posting this to help keep our neighborhood informed. We live a couple doors down for the Riverview Play Field that has numerous homeless RV’s and vans camped out over time. I have repeatedly reported this on the Find It Fix It app which is ironic because the city does nothing to Fix It. All my neighbors have been robbed and the common item stolen were propane tanks. As of last night our propane tanks and iPad were stolen out of the garage that was open briefly for a couple minutes to bring out the garbage and the driveway/garage are a rear load off the alley. I’d report it to the police but why bother, they clearly will not do anything. The other problem is that homeowners neglect their properties and let everything get over grown and no lighting and the city does nothing to enforce homeowner’s to maintain anything. If people had some sort of pride of ownership and we’re good neighbors by maintaining their properties this would help keep our neighborhood safe. I’m so disgusted that our city has enabled such a problem that us taxpayers pay the price with no concern. Homeowners need to maintain their properties and this includes alley ways, this city is filthy and very expensive and what does it offer for such a high price? I know our taxes have more than doubled over the past few years but neglect and crime are on the rise. We love West Seattle and thought living next to a park would be great, sadly I was mistaken and the city and police have made it clear that it’s everyone for themselves. We look forward to selling and moving one day soon as I was raised to be respectful to your neighbors and do the best you can to take care of what we work so hard for, but clearly not a shared belief.

WSBKeymasterSorry to hear about your theft.
If you don’t report it, you have 100 percent chance of no action. If you report it, you have a better chance. Just yesterday, I heard a dispatch on a reported propane-tank theft.
Also: Regarding the overgrown neighbor, you can file a complaint, and those ARE investigated/enforced/cited if public property (sidewalks, streets, etc.) is being encraoched on.
Good luck.

PangolinPieParticipantReally sorry about that theft. We also live near there, and have been keeping an eye on the RV situation for a couple of years now. We’ve notice that the main RV resident (Gloria – she lived there so long that people started to know her by name) has recently moved her RV and blue truck down near the 509 onramp. There was a second RV parked on the Webster St. side of the park for several months – a very large, new looking one – but it’s gone now too. And earlier in 2018 there were another one or two that came and went. As far as I’ve seen, there aren’t currently any RV residents at Riverview. I reported them several times with the Find It Fix It app, over a period of two years, and it took that long to finally clear them all out. I encourage people to keep an eye on things if you live nearby, and if you see them arrive again, please contact the police or use the app.
