treefairiesMemberCan anybody make a recommendation for a local company that is reasonable and cleans duct work? Need to have the duct work connected to my gas furnace cleaned out. Thanks so much for your time and responses.

helihuParticipantI searched the forums this fall for a recommendation and came up with Aurora Edmonds Furnace Cleaning. http://www.aefcleaning.com
I was happy with them. They took pains to keep the house clean and cause the least disturbance. Our furnace (and, assumedly, our ductwork) was full of old sheetrock dust and now it’s spotless.
I thought the price was reasonable and they showed up on time.

biankatParticipantIf you’re OK with Voucher/Coupon sites I just received notice of a duct cleaning service from Summit Clean Air. I don’t know anything about them, but it’s available via getmyperks.com. $145 service for $49. Here’s a link that may or may not work: http://www.getmyperks.com/deal/33550/whole-house-air-duct-cleaning?label=entercom-seattle&utm_campaign=20130312&utm_medium=email&utm_source=entercom-seattle

B-squaredParticipantThis is from a previous post from me on this subject. While I don’t believe that having the ducts cleaned frequently is worth while, in some cases it makes sense (like when you first move into a house or you just had floors refinished or drywall work done). One thing to be very careful of…… be very sure that there isn’t anything stuffed down any of your ducts – like kids putting stuff / hiding stuff down them. I had a bad experience with some material that was pulled down into the heat exchanger but not vacuumed out. When I turned up the furnace as instructed when the job was completed, nasty smoke poured from all of the hot vents. I won’t name that company but I will say that they left my house worse than they found it.
I had Aurora Edmonds out here on the 8th and they were very careful and thorough. They use a truck-mounted system that i experienced first hand…. almost lost my hand;) the guy told me he sucked up a wharf rat once. one of those times you want something to “suck”. price seemed reasonable. Don’t be misled by the coupons that come in the mail that say $95 whole house. not likely as powerful and when i researched them, they had bad reports.
From Kevin’s post:
Aurora Edmonds Furnace Cleaning

.
Seattle (206) 363-0884
East Side (425) 455-1880
South King (425) 228-0877
They have an “A” rating on Angie’s list with 57 feedback entries.
Summit has only 1 review on Angie’s list and i don’t think the person could have been more disappointed.

RonMParticipantI foolishly bought one of those Groupon offers…Duct cleaning for $49. I won’t name the company, but they appear frequently on Groupon. It took them 9 months to finally show up after several “postponements”. Two men came with a shop vac and “vacuumed” about half the hot air vents…as far as about 5′ of hose could reach. They wanted another $150 to “finish” the hot air vents and cold air returns. I thanked them and sent them packing. I notified Groupon who gave me credit for $10.
Aurora Edmonds Furnace Cleaning did a great job!

maplesyrupParticipantBased on a previous WSB recommendation we called Aurora/Edmonds and they were great. Prompt, thorough, polite, and reasonable.
