HeatherbeverlyMemberHello West Seattle Bloggers!
I moved here seven months ago from Colorado and absolutely love it here.
When I arrived I knew I’d be busy with my new job, so finding an excellent dog walker was number one on my” new to town to-do list.”
After several hours of research (websites), many consultations that felt forced (too focused on business, viewed as a price tag), ruling out doggy daycare and feeling overwhelmed by outrageous rates: I was ready to stoop to posting an on Craig’s List.
Rocket (my adorable Airedale Terrier) and I, were on walk exploring West Seattle one day when we happened upon a cafe that allowed me to take her in (how cool is that?)
The barista pointed me towards a glass jar full of gluten free treats (my dog is allergic), next to were a stack of cute white cards.
I decides to call Mathew of Idle Paws. after an easy minute conversation, I setup a meeting with him on Alki three hours later.
The first thing he did was engage with Rocket and she no problem warming up to him quickly. She has issues with males which was a concern, but he’s a dog charmer.
As we went on our free consultation walk, every canine was instantly drawn more towards meeting him than mine.
He showed me his method of meeting dogs and handling the leash, both have worked wonders.
Mat is very knowledgable about all kinds of breeds, behaviors, helpful hints and problem solving.
For the last six montages I’ve used him as a sitter and a walker.
Why he’s the best:
He’s cautious, uses good judgement.
He’s very trust worthy.
His rates are beyond reasonable (between 15 and 20 for an hour.)
He has great communication skills.
He’ll accommodate your schedule, not his (very flexible.)
He’s very positive and loves his job.
He’s always available for last minute requests.
Rocket loves him
He does group walks (friendly dogs) and one on one walks, (aggressive dogs) as well as focusing on rescue dogs.
I cant recommend him enough.
