ReadsalotMemberI’m always impressed with Dr. Kae; after my appointment yesterday I figured I’d tell everyone.
Fantastic staff, his new space at Dakota and California is great. Relates to his patients on a personal level, great with kids, excellent dental care – we’ve been seeing him for years.

odrokuParticipantI can and shall second that. He’s been great to me since becoming a patient last year. I actually just had an abrupt issue, called on Friday morning and was all taken care of well before lunchtime. I’ve no means for comparing to other local practitioners, but I’d recommend him strongly and freely to anyone seeking a dentist in the area.

KimberleyParticipantI do love Dr. Kae and his staff. His new space is fantastic. I remember when I had issues last year with a tooth and went to see another dentist at his old practice, he called me whilst he was waiting in line at the permit office on his day off to check on me talk about a dentist who cares. (comma splices ftw)

richwseattleParticipantI’ll echo that rave for Dr. Kae. Great guy, great staff, great service.

krixusParticipantDr. Kae is awesome! I’m the type of person who has always HATED going to the dentist and now, for the first time in my life, I actually look forward to my 6-month cleanings.
My whole family highly recommends Dr. Kae (even my mom, who needs a Valium just to get through a regular teeth cleaning. The fact that she speaks so highly of him means a lot!) The whole staff is friendly, honest, gentle and easygoing.
Even though Dr. Kae isn’t 100% covered under my dental insurance anymore, I’m going to stick with him and pay the extra money because I think he’s worth it. (It’s also important to me that, unlike the other places I’ve been to in the past, I’ve never had the impression that Dr. Kae was just trying to sell me stuff or talk me into expensive, unnecessary procedures.)
Obviously, I can’t say enough good things about him. Dr. Kae rocks!

bimincParticipantDr. Kae and his staff are fantastic! Based on the recommendations here in the WSB, we recently switched our family from three separate dentists over to Dr. Kae. We’ve all been in to see him in the past month to catch up on cleanings, checkups, etc. My kids love him, husband (who dreaded going to his other dentist) thinks Dr. Kae is awesome, and I am thrilled to have found a great family dentist! Dr. Kae takes the time to get to know you on a personal level, really takes his time with each visit, and provides excellent dental care. Best dentist we’ve ever had!

RarelyEverParticipantMy son and I both love Dr. Kae! Unfortunately, he doesn’t accept my insurance anymore -and rightly so, he explained why in a letter to me a couple of years ago and I completely agree- but he still accepts my son’s insurance, and I’m always envious when I drop him off for his dental appointment, knowing that I can’t afford to go see him anymore myself. *sigh*

SueParticipantI’m looking for a new dentist (like my current one, but he’s difficult to get to now that I don’t have a car), and I’ve read a lot of reviews for Dr. Kae. The reviews are generally great for the dr. and the hygienists, but I’ve seen a lot of negative reviews regarding the office manager in terms of billing and scheduling, to the point where it has made multiple people change dentists. Have any of you posting here had issues with the office staff like that?
Also, I’m curious if Dr. Kae is aggressive with proactive work. Most of the dentists I’ve been to in the Seattle area are always trying to talk me into crowns because of a “really big” filling that MIGHT crack and MIGHT cause problems, and I feel like I’m always being badgered into spending tons of $ because I MIGHT have an issue later. I don’t mind being informed and given options, but I’m not a fan of hard-sells and fear mongering.

sam-cParticipantSue- short answer- (in my case) no, not aggressive. I go to Dr. Kae thanks to reviews here and also reviews of my co-workers- almost all of them go here.
I’ve been to a couple dentists in 13 years in Seattle (1 in cap hill and 1 downtown), and Dr. Kae’s office is great in comparison. the dentist in cap hill was always pressuring me to have expensive procedures (we must use lasers !!); even expensive diagnostic procedures. made me feel like the sky was falling (or my gums would disintegrate) if I didn’t get all this work done. Dr. Kae says my teeth are ‘great.’ I had to have one extra visit for periodontics/ (plaque scraping) to improve my gum health, but they are very laid back and I don’t feel like I need to try and defend myself against car-salesmen like tactics.
I haven’t had problems with the scheduling/ billing. usually the hygienist schedules my next visit while I’m in the chair. I once called to re-schedule an appt. and had no problem. they do require 24 hours notice.

JustSarahParticipantRarelyEver: Have you verified lately that your insurance plan still is not accepted by Dr. Kae’s office? The same thing happened withy husband’s insurance in 2011, but Kae’s office and the insurance company resolved the issue and they’re working together again. :)

RarelyEverParticipantSarahScoot – thanks for the heads-up! I have Cigna, don’t know if that’s what your husband has, but I’ll definitely check with Dr. Kae’s office… if he accepts Cigna again, I’ll be one happy camper!! :D

bimincParticipantSue, we had no problems scheduling appointments, or with payments when switching four of us over to Dr. Kae. In fact they were great about scheduling around work/school schedules. As for proactive work – my husband’s last dentist kept trying to talk him into crowns to replace a few fillings/teeth that looked “iffy”. My husband wasn’t having any problems with those molars so he resisted. When Dr Kae looked at his fillings (and the x-ray) he said they were all solid and his teeth were in good shape and crowns were not needed.

richwseattleParticipantTotally agree: Dr. Kae and his staff are excellent. I’ve been going to them for years.

SueParticipantThanks for the additional feedback on Dr. Kae – I appreciate it!

happywalkerParticipantRareltEver,,,I’ll bet Dr Kae accepts you insurance and will send your ins to Cigna, they are just not in network with them. Usually for routine/preventive treatment there is little or no copay on your part. If you needed basic/ fillings or major/crown treatment i”m sure they would per authorize you. That way you would know your out of pocket expenses up front..before any treatment. You are free to go to any dentist unless your plan unless is an HMO, which means you MUST go to their clinics.
