WSMomParticipantLast night at 11:30 I was startled out of sleep by the sound of loud banging on my front door. In a sleepy haze with only the thought of protecting my kids sleeping in the basement, I raced downstairs with the dogs barking at my heels certain someone was trying to get into my house. Instead, I found the remains of eggs splattered over the front of my door and porch. This “prank” left me shaken and unable to get back to sleep. I implore young people to think twice before terrorizing another family with eggs. The sound of a egg hitting a window in the quiet dark of night is terrifying, the mess left behind is very difficult to clean up. You wouldn’t want this to happen to your home or to your family.

LindseyParticipantSadly, I doubt they are thinking of anything or anyone other than themselves. I’m sorry your home was vandalized. :(

flowerpetalMemberFrightening indeed WSMom. I hope that you and your family can put this behind you quickly. If you have not, it is not too late to call SPD. They would want to record this. And perhaps someone else in your ‘hood got egged too and/or the egg tossers were caught.
I agree that the perps were likely youths. For their own safety, somebody reasonable should catch on to them. There are too many unreasonable people whith calibered fire power out there who could quickly turn this prank into a tragedy.

WSBKeymasterYes, please do report this to police – it’s vandalism. We’ve published Crime Watch reports of this kind of vandalism before (I’m going to link this Forum thread to the CW page) and while there’s always the occasional person who says “What’s the big deal” it’s a story like yours that explains exactly WHY it’s a big deal. Not to mention some tangible effects – it’s not always easily removable from paint on homes, cars, whatever.

WSMomParticipantJust found the remains of a hard boiled egg in the garden. One of the four eggs thrown last night was hard boiled!! Isn’t that bizarre!! No wonder I thought someone had broken down my front door, a boiled egg makes a big noise!!!
I did make a police report. Thanks for the advice. I wouldn’t have had you not suggested it.

flowerpetalMemberSo can adults be stupid. There seems to be no monopoly on stupidity.

Too bad. If there were, we could file an antitrust suit… :D

CMParticipantWSMom, you may already know this, but if not…try to wash the egg off as soon and as completely as possible, and don’t just rinse it. Use some kind of mild detergent.
If you let it set much at all, the proteins in the eggs will soak into the paint and permanently discolor it.
Good Luck!

miwsParticipantUh Rhino, having seen so many of WSMom’s postings here on the Forum, and their content, I personally would be able to deduce, on that alone, that she is very unlikely to be the type of person that would incur the wrath of her neighbors. Just as I have gathered the same impression, from most that post here, a few which I have met face to face, but many not.
However, I can back this opinion up with the fact that WSMom thoughtfully, and generously, prepared and delivered to me a meal (I actually got at least *two* meals from it) last year, shortly after I got home from a seven week hospital stay, and was still trying to re-build my physical stamina.
This act was performed by idiots that just thought it would be a “fun” thing to do.
