BARGAINING UNIT: Plumbers and Pipefitters, Local 32

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Seattle Parks & Recreation Facilities Maintenance Section is seeking qualified applicants to fill two (2) Plumber vacancies. All general maintenance of Parks owned buildings, structures, community centers, swimming pools, wading pools, fountains, spray parks, playgrounds, docks, boat ramps, etc. are covered by the unit. The work requires knowledge of the principles, practices, and methods of the plumbing trade along with making decisions to select appropriate materials and methods to complete tasks. The plumber position reports directly to the Plumber Crew Chief.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair drainage systems, irrigation systems, sewage disposal systems, and other water lines.
• Backflow prevention testing and fire sprinkler confidence testing.
• Clear plumbing stoppages and repair fittings, line breaks, and leaks.
• Inspect plumbing installations and conduct required tests to ensure jobs are completed.
• Read blueprints and review project plans to ensure compliance with applicable codes, specifications and standards.
• Cut and thread pipes.
• Perform welding, soldering, and brazing work for plumbing installation and maintenance repair jobs.
• Order parts and necessary supplies. Maintain required records and reports.
• Respond to emergency situations, make recommendations and perform repairs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• A current Washington State Commercial/Journey Plumber’s License and the equivalent to four years of experience working in the plumbing & pipe fitting trade (and/or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background).
• A current, valid driver’s license.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Washington State Backflow Certification License
• Seattle City Fire Protection Certification License
• Excellent customer service & communication skills
• Outstanding team member
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
• Must be able to stand, walk, or bend for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to frequently lift in excess of 50lbs.
• This position requires outdoor work in all types of weather including indoors.
• May be required to work over and in water, on ladders, scaffolds, lifts or in confined/cramped spaces.
• The current shift schedule is 4, 10 hour days a week
