Squirrels and raccoons may be interesting to see in your yard, but they are a real menace to those of us who garden and raise animals. Let them be who they are – wild and foraging. Giving them a huge leg up by feeding them helps erase innate cautions and brings them more into conflict with people who really don’t appreciate their destructive nature. Feeding them is not helping them.

I’d love it if you could somehow get through to my elderly neighbors to stop doing this!!! Those buggers are killer on the garden. I’ve got piles of peanut shells buried in all my pots and uprooted plants.

Yep… Don’t feed your cat outside too. This is what happens. Once this happens, you have an unwanted pet for life. It will make your life miserable when you can’t shoo it away.

Funny vid jiggers, thanks. Damn those raccoons! Unwanted pet for life is right! That one in the video was seemingly keeping an eye on the filmer while taking food out of the bowl without looking.. As if to say, “Oh yeah, watch this s#1^ ! .. I aint afraid of you. And check this out, now I’m gonna wash my hands and there aint nothin’ you can do about it.”

A nasty one but a good trick in getting unscared racoons and oppossums off your front porch is to fill up a big glass of real hot water then toss it on them. I did that before. Just don’t burn yourself..lol They won’t even budge if you yell at them or wave a broom. They are not scared of you. That will clearly send a message. The water has to be real hot.
