SpodieMemberI take mine to Oreilly’s Auto parts in White Center. They take it, no charge.
Most Chain Auto Parts stores (Autozone, etc)will accept it for free and they’re the closest.
Fun Fact: if you have a Check Engine light, Chain Auto Parts stores will plug in the reader and diagnose the problem for free. I’ve seen Mechanics charge $70 for the same service.

brewParticipantActually, your fun fact is not quite accurate. The parts store will read and tell you what the code is, not diagnose the problem. At most shops, the charges include some diagnostic time to determine why the code was set.
ie.
Parts store: Yup, you have a cyclinder #3 misfire
Shop: You have a cylinder #3 misfire due to a faulty coil pack.

KevinParticipantJust let the oil run down the alley, like my next door neighbor does… right into a storm drain that empties into a salmon watershed.

SpodieMemberWhat the guy at the parts store can’t tell you, Google can: http://www.obd-codes.com/p0300
If it’s more than you’re comfortable with, you can now go to a mechanic and tell them you have a #3 cylinder misfire and not have to pay them to plug the machine in.
But hey, Topper, it’s your money. Spend it wherever you please.

Genesee HillParticipantThe City of Seattle will pick it up on recycle day, which for me is tomorrow (Monday):
From the City of Seattle site:
At the curb: Set out oil (next to your recycling cart) in tightly sealed 1-gallon containers. 2 gallon limit.
At the Transfer Station: Pour into special collection containers. 5 gallon limit per trip.
Motor oil for recycling must not be contaminated with solvents, bleach, or other wastes. If the oil is contaminated, take it to a HHW location. Never pour motor oil on the ground or down the drain.
