We want to have a family picnic and are new to West Seattle.

Any recommendations for a great spot?

    Thanks in advance.

Lincoln Park – lots of options for everyone. The upper portion of the park (the upper and lower portions are divided by a bluf) has tables and kidds play areas and a wading pool; the lower park has tables/shelters , swings and the beach, and Colman pool( a heated saltwater swimming pool). Lots of walking trails – ball fields, etc..

    Welcome to West Seattle!

We are Lincoln Park fans too, living right up the hill.

There are some other possibilities – such as Me-Kwa-Mooks Park on Beach Drive – big sprawling grassy meadow with some short trails into the woodsy area behind it, and right across the street from an open viewpoint to West Seattle’s west-facing shore. And if you don’t care about being near the water, but perhaps have a lot of kids in the family – Hiawatha has picnic tables, a field, a wading pool open on warm summer days, and a playground.

Picnic! Sounds great … TR (WSB editor)

    Thanks, all.

We scoped out Lincoln Park yesterday and today I’m going to check out Alki. Any good spots over there?

    I love WSB!

Great area just north of the boat launch, tables and best view of the city. Or Anchor Park. Or between water taxi pier and Salty’s. Or Jack Block park too, I believe there are tables there.

Here is the link to Seattle parks as well. You will need it if you intend to reserve a spot at Lincoln Park.
