JiggersMemberI’m just wondering were’s a good place in Seattle to get taken care of for maybe 1 and a half-3 months for surgical wound care? My surgical wounds won’t fully heal for 8 plus or more weeks or so said my Dr. here at Legacy Medical in Vancouver,Wa. I need options for semi-long-term to make sure I get proper in stay care were my wounds properly heal without infections. I’m trying to recover in Vancouver,Wa now but, would like options to get back to Seattle. My hospital in Seattle is Virginia Mason and hopefully I can get good reccomendations from my Dr’s there but what’s your take and experiences in the 206?

VanessaParticipantHands down, call Providence Mount St. Vincent’s
206-937-3700 right here in West Seattle. Top notch care, good food nice activities and incredible staff.

celeste17ParticipantI second Mt. St. Vincent’s but if you can’t get in there try Park West in the Admiral area. One thing I learned with my Mom is don’t be admitted on a Friday afternoon. She was admitted to Park West late on a Friday afternoon and the physical therapists weren’t back until Monday. So she had to spend the entire weekend in bed just three days after having her hip replaced.
But both places treated Mom with respect and caring and good quality care.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
My opinion would be to stay out of the one going down Admiral Way. Mom had a friend in there and it wasn’t good.

JanSParticipantI will third Mt. St. Vincent. After a very serious illness and surgery about 14 years ago, I spent a month there recovering in their sub-acute care wing. I was well taken care of. I’m sure they’re even better now.

JiggersMemberMt.St.Vincent sounds doable. I’m going to have to get my case manager at Virginia Mason to look into them for me because I also still need my regular infusions done for my immune system while I stay there for a period of time. I think they also have that type care as well. I normally get them done at V.M. I need options to make a quick decision. My situation is a little stressful and need time by myself to heal away from family members and all the BS that surrounds me. That’s how I roll. It’s a rocky road for me but, I’m getting stronger everyday. The quicker, the better off I’ll be.

elikapekaParticipantJiggers, another vote for Mount St. Vincent. Our elderly next door neighbor spent about a month there after an extensive surgery and was treated really well. It’s been a few years ago, though – but I’ve never heard anything but positive reports about them.

celeste17ParticipantJan, I was thinking the same thing (about visiting) yesterday. Great minds think alike.

GenHillOneParticipantDoesn’t Mount St. Vincent have more “young” people there for recovery/recuperation too? Maybe that’s just a perception I have. We actually didn’t have a bad experience at Life Care on Admiral with my grandmother. With that said, it was a few years ago and end-of-life care, so we knew it was going to be a short stay (was about 4 weeks). And the biggest part of the experience was a hospice worker from Providence Home Health who had patients all over. She was fantastic, so I would definitely recommend them (PHH) wherever you go. Glad you’re on the mend, Jiggers!

JanSParticipantsome advice…if someone suggests Riverton Heights Convalescent Center out by Riverton Hospital, run the other way. I’m speaking from experience here. I once spent 5 weeks at the place, and it ended up with emergency surgery, all the while the doc there telling my family that I just needed to get a little stronger and I could go home. He didn’t have a clue what was wrong with me, and I could have died, it was that close.
Yep, stick to local here in WS, jiggers :)

argilesParticipantI’ve heard nothing but great things about Mt. Saint Vincent. I worked/ am looking for work in the Medical field and have heard alot of feedback on places to recover.
Hope you have a speedy recovery and try to relax as it plays a major roll in recovering.
