skeeterParticipantAnyone tried this stuff? It’s amazing. It’s my new favorite beer of all time. Discovered this liquid gold on a trip to Bend a couple months ago.
You can now purchase this IPA at retail at Safeway. I’d guess other places carry it too. Unfortunately it’s pricey – I think I paid $11 or $12 for a six pack. So it’s more of a “special occasion” beer for Skeeter.
Please give it a try and let me know what you think? It really is *that* good!

anonymeParticipantI’m up for it! Will let you know…
Surprised Wakeflood hasn’t started a “favorite beers of all time” thread – guess it’s up to you, Skeets!
My personal faves are a Belgian golden called ‘Lucifer’, and a wonderful, eminently drinkable Mexican beer called ‘Victoria’. It was sold briefly at Safeway (and everywhere else) but was driven off the shelves by Corona, a big bully of a competitor. Still available at Beer Junction. A great everyday lager, not sweet, clean and crisp.

trickycooljParticipantHad some real great stuff at Rogue last weekend in Portland. Even Costco has been carrying some of their bottles lately, keep an eye out for them! The double chocolate stout was unreal!

twobottlesParticipantYes, it’s an excellent beer, although a tad too much caramel sweetness for my taste.
If you want an intensely hoppy beer with no hint of caramel, try my latest favorite, Field 41 Pale Ale, by Bale Breaker Brewing Company.of Moxee, WA (it’s a brewery started by a hop farmer).
BTW, I just got back from Florida where craft brewing is finally starting to catch on. Had a wonderful mango infused pale at the Madeira Beach Craft Brewing Company (had more than one, actually)

wakefloodParticipantOh anonyme, you’d be so right – I SHOULD have started a fav beer list – the problem being…
…I can no longer drink live beer!! YIKES!!
Something in my metabolism started giving me nasty sinus and headache and skin rash issues when I drink live beer now?? WTF??
I can only drink bad, flavorless, dead, Pilsners with impunity now.
All of you past your 30’s count your blessings – check that – TOAST to your blessings everyday with a tasty beer and remember those of us who envy you.
My mouth still waters when I wander through the Super Deli Mart…

Robert2715Participanttwobottles,
I spent my teen years in Largo. Never thought I hear the words “Madeira Beach Craft Brewing Company” in a sentence. Made my day.

So?

twobottlesParticipantRobert,
I’ve been going the Madeira Beach area for maybe 20 years (both work and personal). Florida is finally getting it! Not only the Madeira Beach Craft Brewing Company, with their own beers, plus 10-15 “guest” beers, but right next door is the Mad Beach Pub, with 100 taps! Love it.
November 11, 2014 at 8:46 pm #819314
wakefloodParticipantExactly, Mike! Believe me, I tried for a couple of years to power through it but eventually succumbed.
Luckily, I’ve had a decent sized wine cellar and liquor cabinet that serve as viable substitutes.
And in some karmic way, the gods have seen fit to return my ability to drink brown liquor again. It used to give my hiatal hernia fits. About the same time my beer allergy kicked in, my brown booze issues went away. So I got that goin’ for me. :-)

AdmiralJanewayParticipantI like smooth beers. This summer I enjoyed drinking Schofferhofer grapefruit beer. I also like Alaskan Pumpkin Porter and Blue Moon Winter Abbey.

villagegreenMemberBale Breaker’s Field 41 is delicious. I enjoy their Top Cutter IPA as well. Think you can find it at Trader Joe’s (and of course the Beer Junction).
November 12, 2014 at 4:50 am #819317
rswsParticipantOh I agree, Fresh Squeezed is a great beer!
November 13, 2014 at 2:54 am #819318
DaveBParticipantAdmiralJaneway:
Blue Moon is made by Coors. It’s known as a “crafty” beer, in that it looks like a craft beer but is really owned by one of the majors. Shock Top is another, made by Anheuser-Busch.
I’d rather give my money to small (and local for the most part) brewers, and hope others do too. Regardless if you feel the same way or not, happy drinking!

kayoParticipantI had that Bale Breaker Field 41 out at dinner recently and agree it is fantastic. Need to stop by Beer Junction and pick some up!
November 13, 2014 at 8:09 pm #819320
twobottlesParticipantField 41 is also available at Met Market and Morgan Thriftway
November 13, 2014 at 11:14 pm #819321
squareeyesParticipantI’m not a beer drinker (liquor and wine are a whole other tub o’ goodness) but I do really enjoy sampling the offerings at the Seattle Int’l Beerfest. My favorite this year was Puck the Beer petite saison.
November 14, 2014 at 10:19 pm #819322
AlParticipantField 41 Bale Breaker is fantastic. I try to always have it in the fridge. I’m not a “hop fan” but something strikes my palate at the right balance on that one.
I really like Airways Pilsner as well, but that’s a treat on the higher price end.
November 15, 2014 at 4:53 pm #819323
waynsterParticipantLook for the the at the Washington brewers or Washington brewers guild web sites for great beer and festivals….. my dream is to visit every Washington micro brewery in the state anyone care to join me …..lol
November 15, 2014 at 7:24 pm #819324
twobottlesParticipantSpeaking of Field 41. Does anyone have a trick for getting the cans out of the can holder other than brute force? I like the cans but hate the packaging.
