JunctionResMemberHi neighbors,
Just wondering if anyone has had a visit from guy alleging to sell meat door-to-door lately. I had a guy come by last night (5pm, 1/30) doing a pitch – a search on this blog revealed a similar story from a few years back but nothing more recent. I’m about two blocks NE of the Junction, and my house is not exactly the easiest one to just happen by – we have no street facing entrance, at the end of an alley, and a wicked set of stairs. Whole thing felt odd, especially given the lack of business cards the guy had.
Anyway, just wondering if anyone else had a similarly strange encounter. Thanks.

sam-cParticipanta meat selling truck came by our house this past Saturday afternoon. after he pounded on the door, the dog freaked out, and the baby woke up. by the time I got to the front of the house to look out the window, he was leaning over the fence teasing the dogs next door. it looked like 2 guys, with a labeled white truck, going door to door. glad I never actually answered the door and had to talk to him. we’re in Puget ridge.

Ms. SparklesParticipantSounds like the same guys who made the rounds near the old Charlestown Cafe area a few years ago. 2 sketchy looking guys in a white truck. A friend actually bought some of their meat when they found the cuts to be sub-par (but still edible) tried to contact the company about it. When they couldn’t contact the company whose name was on the box, they put a stop payment on the check and donated the meat to Nicklesville.
Right after the check was declined the 2 guys showed up at my friends house and tried to intimdate them into giving them another check – my friend’s big toothy German Shepard put a stop to that non-sense and they eventually quit trying to collect.
My point being that while they’re actually selling somthing, not just casing houses, they’re still people to be wary of.

anonymeParticipantSomeone posted about this again quite recently.
Why anyone would even consider buying meat off the back of a truck is beyond me – but it can’t possibly be legal, either. How would you even know for sure what it was?
