KdubsParticipantI thought I was supporting a local business when I called these people to fix a lock http://locksmithwestseattle.com/
Warning: do not use this service. The “locksmith” entered my home, did not fix the lock – actually made it worse – and would not leave until he was paid $150.
Also he tried to tell me the lock we have is “very expensive” and would cost $350 to replace. It was $17 on amazon.
When it was obvious he had no idea what he was doing I asked him to leave and offered to pay his service call fee. He intimidated me and would not go insisting he could fix the lock.
One of the reasons I chose them is because when you google west seattle locksmith, their site comes up and shows 9.8 out of 10 stars based on 47 reviews. After he left I looked closer and they have built those reviews into their website meta data. They do not have a google business page to receive reviews.
It looks like they are working hard to show up in search results as there are seaprate sites for federal way, issaquah, etc.
Does anyone know where I can report these scammers so others don’t get duped?

HelperMonkeyParticipantoh my. they even have a (very poorly written) page on avoiding locksmith scams. http://locksmithwestseattle.com/west-seattle-locksmith-warning-you-from-locksmith-scam-operation/. their whole website is just a mess from top to bottom. I would report them first to the Better Business Bureau and the Secretary of State.
“MAKE SHORE THEY ARE A REAL REVIEWS, WRITHEN BY REAL PEAPLE”
.
if you need a good, actually local locksmith these guys are fantastic. sorry this happened to you – very frustrating.

birdrescuerParticipantI had a similar experience a few years ago with the same reasoning and the same results. I wanted to support locally but this service is from far away. They just have local numbers and they send people that don’t know anything. I didn’t do it then, but I would call the attorney general and the bbb to report it. Sorry this happened to you. It must have been rather scary.

sbreParticipantLOCKSMITH SERVICES (California @ Admiral next to Cira {another local, family owned business}) are a great group of LOCAL people, Stan the owner can often times be seen walking to/from work up Admiral from 61 Ave SW area.
I use them exclusively for the rental properties and my home.
Kdubs and birdrescuer, sorry you got duped when trying to do good by our community. Thanks for clueing us in!

DianaParticipantI second the recommendation for Locksmith Services. They are located at 2607 California Ave SW, phone: 206-935-7538. Stan is GREAT! He’s saved me from vehicle lock outs, residential lock outs, repairs, replacements, and they also make duplicate keys that never fail. Truly a local company that deserves our support and will appreciate your business.
