herongrrrlParticipantWe’ve been using Regence Breakthrough 70 with a $3000 deductible. It’s not the cheapest option but it had maternity care included, which we needed last year. We won’t need it next year so I’m looking at cheaper options. It has worked OK for us but it looks like the LifeWise plan is a lot better for what it covers compared to the similarly priced Regence plan. I’ve never heard of Lifewise before, though, anybody have experience with them?

lizruMemberA really terrific resource for researching health care coverage is the Wash. St. Office of the Insurance Commissioner. They have a free program called SHIBA which helps you wade through health care options. They also can help you figure out if you qualify for other government sponsored programs. The Insurance Commissioner’s office will also have information on who supplies individual health care in Washington state. GREAT resource!
Here’s the SHIBA phone number: 1-800-562-6900
Here’s the Insurance Comm. website:

voodooMemberLooks like you are where I was about a year ago. I decided on Group Health, primarily because they cover some preventative care prior to the deductible kicking in. We have a plan with a health savings account and a high deductible. I haven’t used it much yet, except for my first “annual” checkup in about five years …

lazybeardParticipantHaving had to do the self-insured thing more than once, I found that the following website was fantastic since it’s basically a clearing house/search engine.
http://www.ehealthinsurance.com
They don’t provide insurance, they show you what’s out there given your search criteria.

CMCMemberI must preface this by saying that I work at Group Health so I’m a little biased. I had the Group Health individual plan prior to working there during a time of unemployment and it worked well for me. I would definitely recommend doing some research on the sites suggested above to find what is best for you and your family. What I can say, though, is that not only as an employee but as a patient at Group Health, I have been very impressed with the coordination of care and accessibility (making appointments online, emailing my doc, etc.) Good luck.
