Does anyone know what the early entrance to kindergarten exam round 2 is like? This is the one about talking to the psychologist. I’m not looking to have my child train/study/whatever I just want to clear up any uncertainty around it.

Can I be in the room when my child is being “tested”?

What is the test like, is it psychological or cognitive testing?

Are there other children there as well or is it 1 on 1?

Any other information I should know?

My child was born 1 day past the SPS cutoff date, and they are ready for Kindergarten, so hopefully, all goes well and they aren’t looking for some genius child in order to be let in. One day should not make that big of a difference, but that would be a rant for a different day.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

It has been 14 years, but when my child did it (Oct 23rd birthday) I was in the back of the room. They sat at a small table in front psychologist on one side child on other. Talked, asked questions showed picture of objects and child said what they were. Typewriter was the only hard one, typewriters haven’t been around for a long time.

Cognitive testing was day one for us and parent was not present it was a group setting with a few children.

No need to worry I think they are looking for maturity, vocabulary and child interest in questions. Once you are given the ok to enroll we were wait listed in our neighborhood schools, hope you have better luck with that part.

Thanks WS5, hopefully it hasn’t changed much! I didn’t really feel comfortable leaving my child alone, the first part was fine, 3 or 4 teachers, 15 kids or so.

    Thanks again.
